| iam going to be the devils advocate... why would you do that without letting him know??? I know you think it was ugly and stuff but it isn't yours to throw out... sorry... i think of it this way... what would you do if he threw out something of yours that you absolutely loved but he didnt? I would be pissed that he didn't ask me or tell me beforehand!!! I do not know your FH so i do not know how he will react but if it was something that he wouldn't let you throw out to begin with, then i do not think he will be happy when he finds out. I think you should tell him now instead of letting him finding out. In a relationship there are compromises that need to be made and for some reason it is okay for the women to throw out and be disgusted about a mans belongings but if a man were to do the SAME thing, he would be forever banished and the women would never forgive him... LOL.... My suggestion, buy him another coat that YOU like... and give it to him as a gift... say something like "here hun, i bought you a new coat because when your mom and i went through our stuff and found your old one, it was all wet and moldy, im sorry hun but we HAD to throw it out, so to make the situation better, i bought you a new one because i know how much you loved that coat." thats my 2 cents!

| I agree with Desbride. Trust me, I absolutely understand why you wanted the coat gone -my DH has a few items of clothing that I can't stand, that he doesn't even wear anymore, but in particular, he has this ratty sweater thingy that he used to wear all the time, that I wanted to get rid of for years, and even bought new sweaters to replace it, but he refused to get rid of it - although, we have agreed that it is now his "working on the car in the garage" sweater. He also has an old ratty winter coat (you know, the old, old ski jackets that had flourescent on them?)...anyway, he has kept that as well, but I think it's only to bug me....when he bbqs outside in the winter sometimes he will put it on just to hear me groan about it! Anyway, my long and winded point is that although I hate these items of clothing, I would never get rid of them without his permission, and he would be quite upset with me if I did. When we first moved in together, I kept asking him to get rid of stuff, and it bothered him quite a bit - he wondered why I didn't have to get rid of stuff...I had to explain to him that I had already done that (I moved first). Anyway, we have an agreement that I am never to throw anything of his out without asking him first, and while I am tempting to break my promise many times, I don't, and I won't, because, well, because I promised. it's his stuff, and I would be terribly upset if he got rid of anything of mine without my permission. Anyway, so I understand your hatred towards the coat, I just think maybe you shouldn't have gotten rid of it without telling him. But I don't know your man, and he might not be bothered by it as mine would be.

I know how you girls feel... when I moved in with Dan, I went through his t-shirt drawer and got rid of half of it... then the sock drawer.. 'oh, the hole in that sock isn't THAT big'.. there's still a hole.. garbage.. and the pair of shorts that he's convinced still fit.. lol.. they don't.. hahaha... I'm getting rid of them this summer for sure!
