| So, I have been reading about peoples DIY invitations, and it seems rather time consuming and stressfull. I am wondering if its worth it. Here is my delima: There are some nice invitations on e-bay for $91 + $21 in shipping. For this, you get 100 invitations and evelopes, 100 RSVP cards and envelopes, 100 Thank you post cards, and 150 candy wrappers. (I only need 70 invitations) Really great price, i don't totally love them, but they are pretty and go with the theme. They won't be any work except for addressing them. But there are some that I really like, that i would make from sratch. basically buy 110lb stock paper (which i can't even find), and create them completely (I would just download a template). So, after all that yammering on, what I am wondering is, of those DIY brides that have made invitations, was it worth it? Did you save alot of money but spend a lot of time? How much time did it take? And where on earth do you buy 100 lb card stock (Staples in Vancouver doesn't carry it ) Or, is it worth it to have them made? So, any feedback about DIY invititations would be great. Thanks ladies. Juli

| That's REALLY cheap for invites. I say order them and then if you don't like them, you can dress them up, so to speak, with other things from the craft store.

beb (4/12/2006) That's REALLY cheap for invites. I say order them and then if you don't like them, you can dress them up, so to speak, with other things from the craft store. So you want her to spend money on invites she isnt totally loving, and if she gets them and doesnt like them, she can spend MORE money to try and cutesy them up?? My advice would be to look for an invitation you like and spend the money on them. IF you only need 70, dont waste your money buying 100 of everything. In the end, with the cost of ink, the cardstock, the time and energy to print create and print everything .. it's better to get them made. For about $50 difference between buying them and DIY .. in the grand scheme of things, that isnt much. And it saves you stress and headaches.

The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.
Making the decision to have a child-it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.
The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom.
To understand a mother's love, bear your own children.
Mother is the name for God on the lips& in the hearts of little children.
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
Mrs. M and loving it!!!

| To be honest, I bought mine at Target (yes, it is the best place on earth) for about $60 for 150 invites and response cards. Mind you, they are VERY plain, cream with a shiny-ish stripe border. I was thinking of dressing them up with a ribbon maybe some velum paper. But with everything else going on I decided to just keep them plain. I just got an invite in the mail...it was simple and elegant and thats not what people will remember anyway. So with my DIY I spent $60, and it will cost me 8 cents a copy at Office Max to get them printed....too easy! Im not fooling with printers, hole punches and cutting paper to the right size.

We made our own just like you are thinking, and it only cost us about $50. A friend had the paper, and I believe it came from Staples. It was what we wanted, just made the template then printed.

| I am a DIYer and in the process of making my own invites. It is only costing me around $60 for 150 invites, RSVP's, Map card, envelopes and I absolutely love the design. I say go for what you really want, since you do not have too many to make it should take you no time at all to put them together. Jacqs

That was pretty harsh. I was only trying to help.
