| We are considering an outdoor wedding for our July wedding. My dilemma is what to do in the case of crappy weather? Do we HAVE to rent a tent? Do we reserve a hall just in case? I'm guessing July is the most foolproof month to chose in terms of rain, but there's always a chance... What are other people doing in this case?

July 15th 2006... outside ceremony at my parents acerage!!
We wanted to do the whole thing outside, but being the time of year it is (Calgary Stampede!!) tent rentals for the recpetion were stupid expensive, and not much was available. So we are doing the ceremony and picutres outside and the reception at a hotel.
We have back up for everything!
Ceremony- our church (no cost to reserve, which is AMAZING!)
Pictures, inside a beautiful "greenhouse"
July is pretty safe, but there are always the what-if's!!

| better safe than sorry - i'd rent the tent and have a backup (inexpensive local community center, church basement, or if its a small enough wedding someones home, just in case you get a thunderstorm and downpour or something)

| I'm assuming you haven't booked your location yet. But when you start looking, ask if they have a place to go inside for inclement weather. A lot of places will set up in the hall you are holding your reception, or have indoor chapels....however, most of these places are the "do-it-in-one-place" venues. If you are planning on having your ceremony at a park, it may not work out. Good luck!

Ask you reception Hall - If you have a different reception loation booked. We're having an outdoor September Wedding - Our Reception Site told us they'd only need 1 hour notice to set it up for our ceremony if it rains ~ Which of course, it won't
It's a Done Deal....

I am having an outdoor ceremony August Long weekend. Hors d'ouevres and cocktails will also be served for a few hours outside while we get our photos done at this same location. We are not having the reception there as I was at one before and there were tons of mosquitos and didn't really enjoy myself because of them. Also when you rent a tent you also have to rent chairs, cutlery, tables etc and it really adds up.
If it rains we can go inside at the location. As for pictures, we are going to go to the museum if it rains.

My reception is July 22 and its outdoors I am renting a tent though just to add a bit more formality to my event. Also since I have a tent I don't need a back-up hall. If it rains we just have to put the sides down. My FH sisters wedding was in a tent and it was downpouring but with the sides down no one really noticed at all until they left of coarse
