I have been trying on dresses in my local shops for about two weeks now.  My list of maybe's is getting enormously long! I've also been actively looking online. Especially at Maggie Sottero's line. I love the aseel and jadore and many others.  However there is little option for dealers here of her dresses so I don't get to try on the ones I like in the pictures.  And I've found that what looks like something I would/wouldn't like on the hanger is the exact opposite once I try it on. So I am leary of buying without trying.  As well, my wedding is in August so to order a dress is becoming almost impossible.  The one dress I tried on  this weekend that I did like is Alfred Angelo, and has a semi-cathedral train.  Our wedding ceremony will be performed my a justice of the peace at an outdoor location in a city park.  Pictures will be a combination of outdoor locations if nice out, and studio if not.  The supper, reception, dance is being held at an outdoor location under a tent.  My question is, is a traditional satin dress with a semi-cathedral train too much for this type of wedding. Oh, and attendance will likely be 120-150.  What does everyone think? I'm really tied for options and really need some input! I thought dress shopping was going to be fun and I would just try on till I found THE ONE...NOT happening so far!  Thanks for your help...jmorgandy

You know what? If that's what you love, I say GO FOR IT!! You can always downplay accessories, if you like, and just wear simple earrings or something. This is your wedding, and your time to shine! If that type of dress makes your heart flutter, then I think you should just get it!!!

I don't think anyone will think it's odd either, because hey, we all want to feel like a princess for a day!!!

I'm sorry you're having a tough time finding your dress.  I wouldn't worry about a gown not looking appropriate for your location.  Buy what you want and what you feel great in, that's all that matters.  I love most of the Alfred Angelo line but when I went shopping they mostly had Maggie dresses and that's what I bought.

Wow, it sucks that you're having such a hard time!  But Ihave to agree with the ladies, get the dress you feel comfortable in, there's no rule about what kinds of dresses you can wear at certain places.  It's your wedding, do what you want to do!

I agree with Lizaloo, choose the dress you want, but play it down with simple accessories, maybe some flowers in your hair (wear it down or half up half down) instead of the veil.  Just my opinion...but go with the dress you want.
