Greetings to all the Ladies I have two questions about my invitations that I need help with. Our wedding invitation ensemble includes the invite, reception card, reply card and maps. My questions are 1. We are requesting "SemiFormal Attire" of our guests for our wedding. Do we add this on the actual invite portion, or on the separate reception card? 2. We are having an open bar at our reception, should we make note of this on the reception cards or is it just assumed unless stated otherwise? Thanks Ladies, you knowledge is invaluable

| For your second question, I think it is just assumed unless stated otherwise.

| Sometimes on the invites at the bottom it says "black tie optional".. Either you could just leave it off or write "Semi-formal attire optional" ? Don't put anything on the invites in regards to the open bar. I think it's just assumed.

| I think a little note at the bottom of the invite "Semi-Formal" would be appropriate. As for the bar, I believe its assumed.

| totally agree with the other ladies about the black-tie option...as for the bar, yes i agree, usually it is assumed, but if you wanted to put something on the invite just to make sure people know, you can add something like "complimentary bar" or "host bar" that is what the people said from where I ordered my invites, it sounds more formal than "open bar". For most it is assumed, but if there are two families where tradition is not the same, you may want to clarify!

Thanks Ladies. I think I will leave the open/host bar part out, and just in the corner add the attire requests.

I agree. I dont think you need to mention the bar situation but you should mention semi formal on the reception card. Something like The honour of your presence is requested at a semi-formal reception at Blah Blah Blah
