i paid the deposits for all of my girls dresses...we will also be paying for 1 of the groomsmens tux rentalsimce hes not really in a position to do it himself...

if they're local and they have the means, i don't see a problem with having them buy dresses in that price range.  most bridesmaid dresses can be worn to other events so it's an addition to their wardrobes. 

my bridesmaids will be travelling across the country for our wedding so we'll be paying for dresses.  i couldn't ask them to put out the extra money when they're already paying around a 1000 dollars to be there for me.

My BM dresses were 85 bucks each. I gave my BM and MOH 50 bucks each and I'm paying for their makeup.  I just thought it wasn't that expensive so I decided to pay for that.  They are taking care of their shoes and hair.
