We are getting married at Oak Island Resort in Nova Scotia.  100% of my guests will be coming from out of town.  I am from NS, but not Chester.  My FH is from Newfoundland.  We live in Alberta. So all of our guests will be coming from one of those places.

Do you think mailing my invites in January or February of 2007 is too soon for a September 2007 wedding?  I just want to give my guests plenty of time to book holidays, book the hotel, etc.

Do you think it is too much to ask for an adult only reception?

I think it might be a bit early but I do see your point about allowing plenty of time for out of town guests to book holidays.  If you are getting married in Sept 2007 what about mailing them out in March?  We are getting married this August and I'm mailing the out of towners their invites tomorrow.  So I'm giving a lot of time too.

I don't think it's bad to ask for adults only reception.  Its your wedding right?

Good Luck hun

I have this same problem.. so we are sending out save the date cards so that we can get some feedback from our many out of town guests! ~ Alli xoxo

All depending on your budget, It might be an idea to make a "Save the Date" Card to send out. It's another stamp and more paper and envelopes, but it gets the word out there that they should start booking holidays and hotels etc. but it's not as formal as an invitation.

I agree with alligap - I think Save The Date cards are the way to go so people can book holidays.  It's a bit early for invitations, imo.  It's nice of you to let out-of-towners know well in advance, though.

We had a somewhat similar circumstance.  However, we only have about half from out of town, not out of province.  BUT we are getting married on a long weekend, July 1, so we sent out our invites in Feb so people had time to book it off.  It's worked out fine for us.

This is the purpose of Save-The-Date cards, honey!

Yes, sending out invitations in January for a wedding in September is far too early.
