Have you ever used a Swiffer Wet Jet on hardwood floors? Did it clean them well, or did you find it wrecked the finish?

If you have small children or an animal I wouldn't recoment the Swiffer Wet Jet.  When my daughter started crawling I was using it, then I always found her (this is weird I know) laying on the floor licking it after I had used it. When she went in for one of her check ups I asked our family doctor if it could be harmfull and he said that there is some sort of cancer causing agent in it, and something else but that was a long time ago and I can't remember.  I just know that with my hardwood, I use a spray foam and then a cotton mop made for hardwood.

As PP said it wouldn't be good if you'll have children on it right away, etc. But it DOES clean well, and doesn't ruin hardwood at all. I definately recommend it as well ..

It picks up dust so well!

I on the other hand wouldn't recommend it.

I have hardwood through out my whole house, and yes, it was quick HOWEVER, I did find it would leave footprints.  After it was washed and when it dried, you could see all the paw prints from my 2 cats and dog when they walked on it.  Over time it can also strip the wood.  The only thing they suggest for hardwood floors is warm water or murphy's oil.  You can purchase more higher end cleaners for wood floors, but I think murphy's oil works just as well.

I never used the Wet Jet but just the cloths and i found it left a residue on my laminant flooring. I also like to run it along the tops of base boards to get dust and such and it wrecked my paint job boounrs. Also I have heard that the wet jet shouldn't be used in homes where there are children, dogs and if you walk around in your bare feet as PP have said. I use a microfibre mop. No chemicals, just water and it works really good. I suggest Norwex. Its a little pricey but its better in the long run.

i liked the swiffer wet jet with the hardwood flooring solution. you have to be careful not to use too much, as liquid damages the floors. and like the PP mentioned, pet prints are an issue. to get the best results you have to let it dry completely.
