I'm just having a small wedding, (between 30-40) and I don't know if I should still make a seating chart. There will only be 5-6 tables, I don't want to seem like a perfectionist making a seating arrangment for this small of a crowd, but then I thought I don't want people to end up not having somewhere they feel welcome to sit. Any thoughts?

| it's not necessary for a small number of people, but if you're motivated to do it, go for it. i think everyone likes to have their name on a little card- it's just one of those personal touches. also you'll want your VIPs (parents, etc) to have the best table. and it might help if you know your guests really well to arrange who sits with who to make sure everyone has a good time, like mixing shy quieter people with more outgoing people.

I'm just doing the little table cards and not an actual chart and FH and I are dictating as to where our guests will sit. Only because we want people to be comfortable and to have a great time!

I would only because I was in a wedding where the couple to choose not to have a seating chart, instead they got the wedding party (and by that I mean me) to ask people to move out of "reserved" tables and ask family to move up. Note- when I say reserved, she didn't label them, just expected people to figure it out. Even if you number the tables and have a larger chart, it helps to eliminate confusion. UNless you aren't fussy about it, if you don't care where they sit, I wouldn't worry about it unless, as PP said, you're motivated.
