Ok, I know this should probably go in Health and Beauty, but time is of the essence and this forum is far busier  My brother is getting married tomorrow. My boyfriend HATES the look of my hair "slicked back" (don't get me started  ) so I'm looking for suggestions for simple hairstyles that are appropriate for a wedding, but not an updo. Note: I'm quite inept when it comes to styling my hair, so the simpler the better. Thanks!!

You might try doing the poof thing with your bangs or the front part of your hair and leaving the rest down.

Sarah, how long or short is your hair? Is is straight or curly?Oh sorry, I forgot to put that  I really did mean to! It's past my shoulders, but not as far as my bra strap. It's naturally wavy, but not super wavy. It's cut in fairly long layers. It's supposed to rain here tomorrow, so straightening is probably a bad idea.

Sarah what did you end up doing? I woud have just paid $25 and had a stylist do a wash/dry/style for me if i were in your boat, not knowing what to do, wanting to look glam but not formal w/ an expensive updo.
Depending how your hair is cut you could spray it with some light leave in conditioner after a shower, then rub a small dollop of mousse into the roots. Rough-Dry it upside down for volume (with your hands, just tousle it w/ your fingers and the dryer aimed at it 'til the roots are dry), then flip it back up (stand up, flip back) and use a round or flat brush to smooth out the front and top/sides with the brush and dryer. It is a quick way to get a full but polished look, at least for me. I have semi-wavy hair that tends to go flat on top and poof out on the sides if I don't blow-dry it, so this works for me by giving me volume on top and balancing out the whole thing, plus gives me shine and smoothness (gets rid of frizz).

Asked wedding party, decided on venue (Miller Lash), got catering quotes, decided theme, brainstorming details, started dress search, hired kicka$$ planner, made vendor lists, fought with FMIL, made up with FMIL, lost e-ring, found e-ring... only 10 mos to go!

| A friend of mine who has more skill actually came over and did it for me. She loaned me her root volumizer (or whatever it's called) and I used volumizing mousse and then she curled it with a big curling iron. It's sort of hard to see, and it fell a bit. If we hadn't been running late, I would've taken a pic of the back
