crystal13 (6/24/2008)
Belram (6/23/2008) They are very cool...and I was thinking of doing the whole martini bar thing...until I was told that it's about $2500. It was too much of an additional cost for us, but it is definately a very cool idea and loads of fun!
They are actually not that expensive at all! Ijust got a quote today and for a mid-sized one it's only $215 plus set up and light comes to $395 ... now, that doesn't include the BOOZE, but I'm hoping that adding a signature drink to our bar package won't cost that much and we can use it for that....
Anyone have a price quote for signture drink if you have an open bar!?!?!
The martini bar and luge are 2 different things. The Luge is the ice sculpture with funnel so you pour the liquor/booze through the middle and the drink comes out the bottom into the glass already chilled and mixed. It's just a novelty really but its' very cool (pardon the pun! Cool? Get it?! LOL - Ok so I'm a lame geek - so sue me).
The martini bar is when your venue or catering company sets up a specialty station JUST for martinis, with fancy, impressive martini bar displays, with all the liquors on display, fancy glasses, mixers, garnishes all on display, often a few ice sculptures go with it, etc. - it costs about $10-15 per person depending on your venue on top of all your other costs, so amounts to a few grand by the time you're done. It's popular but I'm told it's typically done for the cocktail reception part of the evening and not after dinner, which means you (bride/groom) won't really get to enjoy it anyhow - it will just be something your guests ooh and aah about and gives them something "different" to remember about the evening.
That is the part that sorta put me off having one. I really wanted a martini bar, but can't bring myself to justify the cost for something I won't even get to enjoy as it would be taken down by the time we arrive on scene for dinner and party. A shame...... all you would have are photos of it later if you're lucky and maybe some descriptions from people you spoke to after the fact when they tell you how great it was.
2 B Wed in June 2009! Me (29) + FH (32) + his son (12) = 9.5 years together
Done so far: -Wedding party chosen -Put brainstorming into overdrive -Considered every venue in South-Central Ontario and narrowed down to a short-list (I think) -Started dress search -Hired a planner/coordinator -Compiled lists of vendor services (photography, decor, cakes, etc.) -Booked NOTHING! But getting close........ I think?

Our venue quoted us $265 for the Martini Luge that would look like the mountain behind the venue. Includes light, 2 funnels for 2 signature drinks and attendant. For the martini bar it is $1,125.
- That is based on 75 people having 2 martini's in a 1 hour period. We don't expect all 150 of our guests to have a martini, especially the kids. And this is also our two signature martini's. Pomtini and appletini.
We are also having a kids cocktail with a smaller luge which is $125. The mix cost is $62.50 for 50 guests. We didn't want to make the kids feel left out.
Totaling cocktail hour is $1577.50 + Gratuity + GST
I think our venue is relatively inexpensive when it comes to alcohol as they are only charging us $7.50 for the martini and $1.25 for non-alcoholic. We are also supplementing the cost of the bar for a $2 bar. We have some heavy party-ers coming so the venue figured they'd give us a deal. Plus the men are golfing at the venue the day before the wedding.
