Yes you just assume his name. Much easier! You can read about it at www.gov.on.ca go to Life Events, Getting Married Does that mean the process is different for each province? Not sure, I'm assuming that its basicly the same

Thanks for the info ladies! I'm going to get my health card changed today. Do you how long it takes to receive it? I'm hoping once I have the health card I'll be able to change my driver's license, passport, banking, etc. Need the actual marriage certificate for that. My bank took my Record of Sol.

Are you traveling to the US in October? Could be an issue with your passport (unless your passport office is faster than ours - so slow).Yes I'm travelling to the US. I'm hoping that it would be fast enough...if not I think they have faster service but just have to pay for it....which I'm fine with

As of the 5th of July I can apply for my marriage certificate!!!! Yay finally!!! Once I finally get it I will start changing my name, everywhere. I wanted to do it all at the same time.

Perhaps it's different for you, but in order for me to change my passport (i live in the GTA), I have to have the marriage certificate, which i can't even 'apply' for till about 10-12 weeks after our wedding date (which was June 7th) due to the back log in thunder bay where they process everything. I'm pretty sure you need the marriage certificate (not just the record of sol.) to change your passport -- i'm just wondering if the timing is going to work out for you if you have to wait awhile to even get the certificate. and since your passport and airline tickets have to have the same name on them, it may just be easier to travel in your maiden name for now. just a thought...hopefully it all works out for you!
