| I have this posted on another site too but thought I should post it here also!!! Any thoughts on how many drinks pp I should budget for for a lunch time reception? We are planning on doing all non alcoholic drinks/a cider station as well as an alcoholic punch but we also want to do host wine and beer (highballs are cash). I was thinking probably 3 or 4 wine/beer per person but fh thinks only 2 with the time of day (lunch is served at 1:30) and because of the punch/cider etc....Thoughts? Advice?

to me 3 or 4 sounds right. some people will have 1 or 2... but some people will have 5. KWIM?
At lunch time i would be through three- four drinks and not even realize it, if was walking around socializing....

For our dinner reception we were told to average 4 drinks a person. I think that would be a safe guess for lunch as well, especially if it's into the afternoon. Or maybe 3??

I've heard the avg. 4 pp as well but for dinner/night receptions. I would think it's less for daytime, especially if you've got wine/beer on host and rest on cash.
I would think that people would drink wine or beer more slowly than some other drinks - especially at midday, but who knows. Do you have a lot of heavy drinkers coming to your wedding? If so, avg. higher. If you know the majority of your guests are more the 1 drink type, and tea-totallers the rest of the time, that's safe I'd say to avg. lower. Use your judgment, it's really all you can do.

Done so far:
Asked wedding party, decided on venue (Miller Lash), got catering quotes, decided theme, brainstorming details, started dress search, hired kicka$$ planner, made vendor lists, fought with FMIL, made up with FMIL, lost e-ring, found e-ring... only 10 mos to go!

| We budgeted 3 drinks per person for an evening reception (this was on top of the wine). We had quite a few non-drinkers ... about 20-25 out of 110 guests total. So we figured that those who didn't drink would make up for those who would have more that 3. We came in on target for our bar budget. I think 3 per person would be an appropriate budget for an afternoon lunch. If it were me as a guest, I would have maybe 2. At my Uncle's wedding this past October, I had 2 drinks at their afternoon lunch. DH had 3 drinks.
