We have to have liability insurance in the amount of $1,000 000 for our venue. I have found the website but it does not state fees... wondered if anyone else went this route and could tell me how much this costs??

For 1 Million Liability your looking at

150.00 for 100 guests includ. Taxes.

173.00 for 101-500 guests.

We purchased it from an insurance company in our city. You have to call around and find out what insurance company offiers it in your city, I think that was the trickiest part?

Hope that helps.

I'm surprised that the venue doesn't have its own insurance.  Is that normal?

It is a Conservation Authority site... we are having our own bar, offsite caterer... I do think this is not entirely unheard of in these kinds of venues.

we had to have it for our venue and it was 198 with tax from an insurance broker-you get it the same day you pay for it but in case of any issues they perfer you get it 1-2 weeks ahead of time. you will also need a special occ permit before you get the insurance(ontario)

Oh ok, that makes more sense to me now.  Thanks for clarifying

I think you best bet is to call around to different companies, or find a broker who will do it for you (if they will, I'm honestly not sure how they work).

I am actually related to the owners of PAL insurance so I am a little biased, but I know they have GREAT rates and are very fair!
