akeemah (7/4/2008) While I agree it's unfair to judge a person's ability to parent based on their age, I do think it requires a certain maturity level to flip your life 100% around when you have a baby and some kids, at a "certain age", lack that, be it for 3 days or a lifetime. I had my daughter at 21, so no, not as young as 16 but young enough to think it was going to be easier than it was, you literally grow up overnight and I don't think this show will be able to show kids that because they're not dealing with their own kids and the love and commitment that would be there were the kids their own is just not there. Sorry if this doesn't make sense, preggo brain at it's finest. You can have differnet maturity levels at different ages too. You could have a 16 yr old mother that is way more mature then a 28 yr old or vice versa...it all depends on the person...not the age. Also, I agree that its totally differnt when its your own.

| I am from a broken family....my mom had me when she was 16 yrs old, my parents split up when I was 7 yrs old, my sister, brother & I slept on park benches with my father for over 2 yrs.... We all have choices in life, regardless of our family upbringing....you either choose to go the right path OR you choose to go the wrong path, fortunately I chose the right one

I think Kelly and her bf did a great job with the baby. I also think Jordan and his gf did a good job as well. The other couples need to grow up... especially Alicea. She acts like a child herself. Her poor boyfriend.
Anyways, I was thinking about why the parents would lend their child, and came up with a reason that makes sense to me.
Ever leave your child with a baby-sitter and wonder how your baby is doing without you? How does your child react when you're not around? Well, on this show, you are watching 24-7. So, it's a once in a life-time opportunity right?
I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. JMO.
Blissfully married since August 4th, 2007 Hoping for our first little miracle! Formerly NatalieP

I read that the children are all psychologically assessed before they go on the show, for separation anxiety, etc.
I think the show does everything they can to make sure the children are safe.
I don't think it's good TV, but we shouldn't say bad things about the parents.
