Just wondering if anyones knows if the first time home buyers for resale homes has offically passed yet?? We closed on our house on May 15th. If its passed does anyone know how long it should take to get the money?

You're going to need to be a little more specific ... there are a couple different programs available for first time home buyers ...

I don't know for sure if it's been passed but we close today (YAY!!) and we don't have to pay our land transfer tax on our resale home.  Before they were requiring you to pay and then if it was passed the governement would refund your tax (up to the $2000) limit.  Unfortunately if you had to pay yours on closing it'll be a while before you get your money.  Our lawyer said she had people who paid in December and January when the bill got sent in for consideration who haven't received their money yet

Our lawyer said it passed 10 days ago!!  They are waiving the first $2000, as the pp said.

Too perfect, because we have just bought a house pending home inspection.  Timing couldn't be better.

Shawa: I'm almost positive that both people on the title would have to be first-time home buyers.  When we called our lawyer he specifically asked if we were both buying for the very first time.

Oh man, if this is true, I am sooooooo happy.  Just bought a house, we'll be closing July 25th and this would be an amazing added bonus.  *crosses fingers*
