I am not doing favours. I think that between the invitation, the meal, and the fact that anyone who wants one of my candle centerpieces can have one, it just seemed silly to give little bags of mints. My FH's sister got married 3 years ago and didn't have favours and people seemed OK with not getting some $2 token.
Opinions anyone?

I rarely take a favour when I go to a wedding. I go to a wedding/reception to celebrate the couple's marriage, not to bring home a souvenir. That being said, I am doing favours, but I also have less than 15 guests, and it is a Canadian destination wedding, so my favours are souvenirs from PEI too....

As a guest, I would have no problem with not receiving a favour That's not what a wedding is about, IMO. Thank you cards cover the gratitude aspect. In fact, there are favours that I have from weddings that I really don't have a place for, and they've just become clutter, but I can't bring myself to get rid of them because I know a lot of work was put into them.

I'm wavering.
I originally did not want to do this. i was instead going to do a donation to the MS Society (I had an aunt who passed from MS).
BBBUUUTTTTTT I have been getting so much flack, from everyone from bridesmaids to in laws to brothers. I keep saying it"s not like I'm NOT doing anything, just something to honour my aunt's memory! Come on people.
So I may do both. Favours aren't that important to me, but some people obviously regard them as essential. Going with the flow, I am.

| I am split. depends on how much money i have left. Either I will do something like make a candy apple or some of my great grandmothers cookies, or noting. I just dont see the point since I will have alot of decor stuff they can take. I am gonna have a bunch of potted plants and herbs, mason Jar candles etc etc most of which I dont want to keep because ill have alot of them. lots of centre pieces and decor as I am having long tables not round.
Invitations (sans info) done, and thats it.......

I gave favours, but only because I ended up with enough time and money to do them.
I don't believe they are an essential part of a wedding. They are definitely optional.
