We have been having a hard time picking songs and the only song I know for sure I am playing is "I loved her first" by heartland for the father daughter dance. I heard it and it registered with me for the first time two days ago. Other then that I have no idea what songs we are having for ANYTHING. I feel so lost on this. I feel like I want to give up with it.

Don't give up! ((HUGS)) There's so many songs out there, I understand that it can feel overwhelming. I'm also using Hearltand's "I loved her first" for my dance with my dad. It'll be the second time I ever danced with him. (The first was when I was 5 and a flwoer girl at my aunt's wedding!)

Do you and FH have a special song that's significant to you? Don't feel pressured into finding a song with lyrics about a certain subject, it's how you feel when you hear it that matters. I'm dancing to Shania Twain's "When you kiss me" as my song with Fh.

All the best in finding your songs!

A friend of mine sent me a file with lots of old-fashioned style songs. Things like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong (La Vie En Rose!!), Fred Astaire (Cheek to Cheek!!), Dean Martin, Michael Buble...

I think it might help to know what style of music you like, and go from there?

Also, before the boards were wiped there was a thread about sites that can help you with music. These might help:

I like country FH likes 80's I also like 80's but the songs he wants I don't and the songs I want he doesn't. He doesn't dance well so I think I have convinced him of an idea. I saw some people do it on youtube and he is willing to try it. Since I am a dirty dancing movie lover he is willing to attempt the "I've had the time of my life" song/dance that they do in the movie. We could make it comical and serious at the same time. Because no one would expect it to be great but it would be fun to do it. I am a bigger girl so on the lift people would be like oh my god and then he would just dip me. Something like that. The other idea was from the grease soundtrack something along those lines. We want something different. This wedding is all about being different. Nothing is normal for this wedding. LOL

Outside of a couple we picked ('You and I' - Michael Buble, our first dance; 'Little Wonders' - Rob Thomas, wedding party; and 'What a Wonderful World' - Louis Armstrong, me and my Dad, DH and his mom) we let the DJ call the shots.

He was fantastic!  Kept people up and dancing, played a good mix of old and new - really wonderful.  Totally worth the $350.  I'd 100% reccomend having a DJ.  I've been to weddings where the bridal party ran iTunes on a sound system which was ok but they spent a ton of time back there getting the next song ready.

Oh we have a DJ. That isn't the problem its just the first song and the dance party song we don't know what we are dancing to. "What a wonderful world" is not allowed at the wedding. I will start into an uncontrollable cry. My grandfather passed away and that is the song we had for him. I just can't do it that day. It is a beautiful song but it is going to be hard enough to get through that day without him. I'm already starting with the tears just thinking about it.
