Hi all,

I went to see Le jardin last night, in Woodbridge. stunning venue as I wrote about in another thread here (under Royalton etc.)

Only issue is the theme of the place doesn't match anything to do with what my original theme was supposed to be. It is to be a summer wedding, so I wanted to use summer colours. I wanted to do white and pink or white and aqua, etc.

Doesn't work here unfortunately - everything is ivory, burgundy and gold in this place. The carpets are the biggest issue as they're red like red wine. The chairs are gold chiavari chairs, which can be covered, but what a shame, as they are nice chairs on their own if a little understated for the decor of the place.

The glassware has gold detailing on it as well. Wine glasses at least anyway.

I can't seem to find any photos of ANYONE's wedding at this place online other than a few sets hosted by Boston Images where the events featured didn't do much in the way of decor from the looks of it - they just let the built in decor of the place be the centrepiece for their day. It's a BEAUTIFUL hall and the service was the best we'd experienced yet in visiting halls and talking to on-site coordinators.

I would love to book with them but unsure about the decor so hoping to see some different wedding photos from people who booked here, to get a feel for what it can look like when it's all done up - and by done up I mean upgraded linens, maybe draping on ceiling and/or head table, maybe chaircovers, lighting effects, etc. Please share!

I also would love to get some honest reviews from people about the food and quality of their day at Le Jardin. Seems like it would be great but I would like some reviews from people who married or had events there - can't seem to find many online at all. The name Le Jardin is too common unfortunately and plus most of the results I can find on THIS Le Jardin are their own directory listings in various places online. Paid listings - no reviews.

Help!

Thanks in advance for those who can respond.

once again i have no real information to add, just my opinion i looked at the photos of the rooms and i think you could totally work your summer color scheme into it. aqua and deep red goes nicely.

i bet you could work in pink with the red and gold as well. look at indian saris for inspiration- their fabrics are always bright colors with gold.

Thanks for the suggestion - and the post!

While I like some of the patterns and images you posted, that colour combo doesn't really appeal to me though that shade of red definitely works with aqua a lot better than what the colour of the carpets would. They are like a dark burgundy red - like a dark brick browny red..... hard to explain. Not a summery decor look at all. All the decor I've seen an in any photos of these rooms has been in ivory, cream, or like, gold, beige, neutrals, etc. - I'm not even sure that a funky palette like what you posted would work in this type of room considering how ornate it is - it's got a very traditional look to it, like, carved barrel arched ceilings with elaborte detailing, etc. - also in burgundy and gold. It just doesn't quite go with the funky look all that well. I think we have to stick to elegant and simple to work with the look of this room which is kinda too bad because we love the hall but wanted a funky, modern look to the decor by way of the colours, textures, etc. - I am just not sure but will continue to brainstorm and welcome all suggestions.

Can you tell me how to post a pic directly in my post here instead of as an attachment? I don't know how.

Your post did get my inspirations working though - and I may consider it......... or something like it. So thanks for your help! If you have other ideas please let me know! Where did you find that inspiration board by the way?

Thx again!

i'm not much help except to say that we booked with them and our colour scheme is chocolate and cream and some sage green.

I agree with you that the hall doesn't really give off a summery feel. I went with it because it was elegant and traditional  - the look i was going for. Could you use neutral linens and liven it up with your centerpieces? what about the lighting- you could have it a little dimmer - the carpet and curtains don't look red when it's a bit darker in there.

I have been exploring options with this venue - and even though you're right, with lights low, they don't look red, you would see the red in all the camera flashes, not to mention when guests first arrive because lights will not be down too low upon arrival as guests have to find their seats and be able to see.

I don't like the way this hall looks with just plain neutral style linens and chair covers - it is too plain for me. I wanted to go for a really summery look with hot colours like hot pink, summery orange, maybe some aqua, and LOTS of chiffon-y white as backdrop. Those colours TOTALLY don't work w/ this venue.

Another alternative for us is to book with Columbus Centre's Sala Caboto Garden and hall - the terrace/garden is perfect for our ceremony on-site and the hall, while nothing to write home about will look great once it's all done up I am sure. My issue w/ this hall was just the fact that the ceiling was low and the room was fairly small - it felt very claustrophobic but i'm not sure if that's just my perception because it wasn't all done up. I want SPACE between tables - I don't want them all on top of one another. The guy tried to convince me that it would be fine and that the space is not small, which kind of got on my nerves because I've seen a lot of halls by now and it WAS a tight squeeze. He had the right # of tables in there when we arrived, for the viewing. And it was not set up for a dance just for a dinner when we went. So would be even tighter than what I saw because we would need a dance floor. We explored the idea of booking out the whole hall (he showed us half) and he said it would be approx. $1000 more to do that. I figure might as well - that way if it rains we have an indoor reception on one side and the banquet on the other maybe. It could work and it was neutral with hardwood floors and no carpets, so our colours would look summery and amazing in there.

I am going to take my bridesmaids with me, to check them both out and get their opinion before I book next week and see what they think.

Still, if anyone at all has done a summery look in this hall (Le Jardin) I'd really like to see it before booking, please and thanks!

Another option for us was the Royalton. We LOVED this venue but they did not have an option for us to have our ceremony on-site unfortunately unless we did it indoors, and in the morning for some reason. They told us it would take them about 3 hours to flip a room from ceremony to banquet and that was why. They did not offer us the option to have the ceremony in one room and have the banquet/reception in the other. We wanted to have our cocktail reception outside the banquet room, in their foyer but they did not want to book out the whole foyer for us, for cocktails, due to our guest list only being 120 people. The foyer is not that big but they have 3 halls and presumably 2-3 events going on at once.

So the only way I would actually book the Royalton was if i could find a nice place to have our ceremony earlier in the day, outdoors somewhere. I was looking at Spadina house online, in Toronto but I couldn't get through to anyone there to tell me how much it would cost to do that on their terrace. Also I would be worried about the fact that if I did that, there is no backup plan in case of rain. I am getting so tired of trying to figure out a solution to my issues here. DF says to just hire a planner at this point to help us figure it out from here. He might be right. I am just SO not thrilled about the idea of hiring a planner so early in the process, because I don't want to spend the money if I don't have to. I am a marketing exec - I should be able to plan this wedding on my own, ya know? But alas, it is not my industry, and i am learning as I go which is taking up a lot of time. Maybe he's right. I should just book a planner and be done w/ it.

*BUMP*

Did no bride at CB get married at Le Jardin?

If you're a bride who married at Le Jardin or a decorator with photos of a Le Jardin hall decorated for a wedding in something other than just plain ivory or white, please post with photos here in this thread OR PM me.

Thanks!
