Yes that is so frustrating! I had a friend who I haven't talked to in years and was not planning on inviting and she asked me "Oh when is your wedding, I think I can make it!" She sounded really excited and I thought I could make a spot for her (and her new boyfriend who I have never met) She responded yes, then about a week before the day she said she MIGHT not be able to make it. So I still put her on the seating chart, as she said she would let me know. The day before she said she couldn't come. Which left a really awkward table of FOUR! (was six before) and that was the table I just put people that I didn't really know where else to sit. So frustrating!

Yep, I sure did! One guy I dated very briefly, but kept in contact with a couple times a year, if that, basically invited himself. He chose the most expensive option. Then failed to show. Not even a phone call, telling me he couldn't make it. Just didn't show. Nice.

| this is my biggest nightmare! I anticipate that 1 or 2 people may "no show." I pray that it is not more than that! I'm actually contemplating ordering 1 or 2 less meals to ensure that if they don't show up, I won't have to fork out over $250.00 for nothing. If they end up coming, quickly talk to the kitchen staff and ask them to whip up another order - still haven't decided on this one

That sucks!! But check with your venue because mine will not make me pay for people who did not show. We pay the assumed amount 72hrs prior, and the next day they are going to let me know if I owe them or they owe me (we are doing open bar and are charged for approx 10 drinks per person, which we are refunded if they don't drink that much, or pay up if they drink more- same goes for food). I know it is stressfull, but double check, because if you know your numbers are different, they may take off the charge!

Two of my DH's brothers said they were coming and then didn't show. DH sister had to talk the one in town into coming for the reception. The thing is the one that didn't show up (we thought we'd have a problem right from the get-go with him not giving us an answer until the last minute - he's like that) he's the one that sent his RSVP card back first. None of DH brothers showed - he has 3 (another replied yes and later changed his mind -well before wedding) It has nothing to do with DH. It is a very unique family. And DH nephew who knew a week ahead of time that he couldn't make it (he's 16) didn't call (or his mother could have called) and we ended paying for his meal. DH now refuses to go to any of nephews birthdays. Can't say I blame him.
So yes people can be ignorant.
