So, I just went for a consultation at MAC, and the makeup really looks so awesome...I mean, I look HOT!

However, when the makeup artist tallied up the total for all the product she had used, the total was $436!!!  It's a good thing I was still sitting down.  An even better thing FH was sitting down when I told him!

With our budget, there really is no way I can justify spending that amount on something I really won't use too often.  And I tried to book another consultation on the wedding day, but there were no openings.

So, now I am on the hunt for cheaper and perhaps not AS good, but still decent quality, makeup.

Can anyone suggest anything???

I went with Caryl Baker Visage. Their line of makeup is pretty pricey too, you don't need to buy all the products that they use on you. I just bought the compact, lipliner, lipstick and eyeliner for touch-ups. It came to $126. I could have done without the eyeliner and bought a cheaper version. If you really want to save money just buy the products that you think you really need to do touch-ups for your day!

If you're just wanting to get a pro to do your make up on the wedding day, you can definitely get it done cheaper.  If you want to buy fancy, (good quality), luxurious stuff and do it yourself, you can scrimp and save in so many ways....

I now buy Make Up Forever foundation for about $45.  It lasts me probably 8 months.  (I'm not a huge make up gal).  I did my own wedding day make up (with help on my eyes from my Sister/MOH), and the only things I bought special were Revelon eye shadow special anti-creasing kit with like 6 brown-ish shades, and Cover Girl Lash Exact Mascara:

Everything else I already used every day.  And I looked pretty freaking hawt

I think The Body Shop does consultations, and you aren't obligated to buy anything.

I would suggest finding a Mary Kay consultant.

Married the Best Man on Land or Sea on Sept 29/07 and expecting a Pink Princess on or around Dec 7/08!!!!

Also known as Pinky!!!

I did my make up for my engagement party with Clinique. They only expect that you'll purchase two products. So you could totally get away with spending like $50.

Thanks for the responses!  It's a relief to know I don't have to spend $400+ to look good on the big day!
