I am struggling with what colour to put my groomsmen in.
My dress is called "spun gold" it's pretty much a champagne colour. My bridesmaids are in dark brown with blush sashes(very soft brownish pink).
My fiance is in a black suit, with a champagne coloured vest and a bit darker champagne coloured tie.
My groomsmen are in black suits (well, all but one and that is another RANT!!) I wanted to pull in the colours of the bridesmaids dresses but everywhere I go they say NO to brown ties. So I thought of bowties to match the groom's tie (which was my original plan) and then found out you have to get special shirts.
One of the groomsmen lives out of town and his suit is black with a small brown pinstripe to it - I am NOT impressed, and he won't buy a new suit ($200) to match the other men. My maid of honour spent $190 on her dress !! Just to have it look right, I'd like to buy his damn suit myself!
My original plan was the guys in black suits, the Ivory shirt and the champagne coloured bow tie, no vest.
My maid of honour suggested the black suit, no vest, and dark brown ties - but everywhere I go they say NO to the brown tie.
There is 8 weeks left to the wedding - everything is falling through. The lady to make my cupcakes/cake decided to add another $45 on top of the $185 she quoted me, for the darn stand. So, now I have to find someone else to do them.
Frustrating. Suggestions??

Would a tie in the blush colour work? Too bad about your difficult GM...ugh, that's so frustrating! Especially since a black suit is always in style! Oh well, it will look beautiful, and you can always just do a black tie and add the brown/blush in the boutiniers (sp?)!

Chances are the cupcake lady will give you your $45 back when you return the stand. That's usually what they do, but you might want to double check with her.
As for the guy with the small pin stripe, if you hate it that much, why don't you just buy him his suit then?
And have you thought of checking ebay for brown ties?

No brown ties the right colour on e-bay. Have searched every mens wear store and cannot find "blush" ties.
I am sticking to my original plan - the bowties to match the groom's tie. I'll rent the bowties and the shirts to go with. Done.
As for the brown pin-strip suit that the BM owns - he will be having a suit the same as the others - I'll buy it.
Never thought about the $45 being refunded when the stand is returned. Funny thing - when I e-mailed her back and told her the price was out of our budget since the addition of the fee for the stand, she never replied saying it was refunded.
