I have no problems now that I am on the generic one...actually I prefer this one b/c the amount of problems I had on alesse was crazy..random spotting, my period coming a week early, low sex drive (worse then my period coming a week early )

Hmm, not what I wanted to hear! haha
I do know for sure that the active ingredients are exactly the same (I've read the packages), and I know the generic can't be approved unless that's the case. You might have reacted to the filler in a way that caused it to be less effective, or it simply failed; it happens.
Anyway, after seeing that the active ingredients are the same, I now feel fine about making the switch.

| I've been on Alesse for 5 years and I have also had very minimal side effects. My sex drive is awful though.... I have heard it is like that with most BC pills though. I too, have heard about the generic brand, but haven't switched over. My sister, however, switched and also hasn't noticed any difference between the two. I imagine the difference should be very minimal. I don't think you would have a problem.

| I had to start taking Aviane when Alesse was on backorder, and started having immediate side effects within two days. Severe nausea that gravol wouldn't even touch. I just felt cranky all the time and so tired. As soon as I went back to Alesse, I felt so much better!!! Back to normal although with both pills I have almost no sex drive!!! My FH absolutely hates that aspect, as do I!! But everyone has a different experience with it. Mine just wasn't good.

| Hi I thought I'd give my two cents as I am a pharmacy tech. and I went to school for all this lol There is no difference in the medical ingrediants --NONE what so ever, they wouldnt be able to sell it as a generic brand.... I only buy generic I dont let brand names rip me offf The difference between the two is the generic brand has cheaper fillers, like corn etc. You should only opt for the brand name if you have an allergy to fillers, which you would know because if you've ever taken antibiotics for anything they are mostly generic.. as the brand names are very expensive. Common generic names include Apo, Novo, Gen, Tri, etc Honestly there is no difference.. I promise, and you can always ask your doctor, who will tell you that most ppl that have reactions have an allergy, or its physcological
