| Hey there. I am getting married in Oshawa in July....We're still unsure of the date but probably the 18th of July. I'm looking to make some connections with others in the area who are looking at a similar timeline to compare vendors, ideas etc...and to support each other when things don't go as planned. (because let's face it...it's inevitable). If you're not in Durham, you can still join in because it will be interesting to compare timelines of things accomplished etc. Can't wait to see who is back here now that CB is up and running at full speed again.

| We haven't finalized anything yet but probably Shriners in N Oshawa. That's why I made this thread...as you can tell from my name...I'm all about the best deal in town. So I'd like to compare notes with other brides. So far I've priced flowers at A&P...good prices, but I think superstore might be cheaper...and I'm also going to try a girl I found at a bridal show who does them out of her house and get everything priced out. Not sure about cakes...there's a lady in Newcastle who does it out of her house. Have you booked anything yet?

| We are getting married at Deer Creek on July 4, 2009. We wanted something different then the traditional banquet hall and have definitely got it at Deer Creek. We are looking at have Lanterns as centre pieces rather than the traditional flowers. We are hoping to find some place that will give them to use cheaper since we will be buying a larger quantity. As for flowers a friend of mine (durham bride 08) got all her flowers including centre pieces for 300.00.

| This thread is a great idea!! We're getting married at Cullen Central Park in Sept '09 (not quite summer!). We've got our DJ, caterer & officiant. I was so surprised how quickly things book up. We booked everything in May and got the first available Saturday date, Sept 26 '09! I couldn't believe it. Frugal: good choice with Shriners. My friend had them cater her wedding and the food was great! And please let me know how your flower search turns out. I'm thinking about going the same route, but also pondering DIY silks. Anyone been on the dress hunt yet? I've heard good things about the shop in Port Perry (not the one on HWY 7a, the other one) and Val's in Oshawa. I also heard some horror stories about one in Ajax. I also have a friend who just got married at the Hilton in Ajax, and she told me about this fantastic place in Courtice called I do, For you. (www.i-do-for-you.com). I haven't been there yet, but apparently its like a one stop shop with fantastic prices. The woman runs it out of her house and can order almost anything. She also sends a bi-monthly newsletter that has some great ideas/tips.

| Hi guys! Great thread. I am getting married on July 4th, 2009. The ceremony is at Parkwood Estates and the reception at Le Gala (Whitby). My sister is getting married this fall and had all her flowers done through A&P, for a total cost of $500. It was a great deal!

| Hello ladies! I'm getting married August 2009 at Trillium Trails, north of Oshawa, in exactly one year! We've booked the venue, and are hoping to book an officiant, DJ, and photographer soon! Any suggestions? I've heard that grocery stores do great flowers at great prices...I will definetly check A&P out. Someone also told me that Price Chopper does wedding cakes!! I know...Price Chopper?!?! But apparently they are beautiful and good prices. This thread is a great idea!!
