| I've been to weddings where people have it right after their ceremony as well as right before people enter the dining area. The order is up to you really. The weddings I've been to had the wedding party first, then groom's parents, groom, bride, bride's parents. No rules....so mix it up how you like! I'm trying to get my FH to agree to a receiving line. We will have over 150 guests and I heard it's a great way to at least say hello to everyone....but he doesn't want one. He says it's because he doesn't like that type of spotlight...I tell him "honey it's our wedding, we'll be in the spotlight no matter what!". Cheers, JG

| Thanks! I am definitely into having a receiving line just so we get a chance to say hello to everyone, and they all get a chance to say "congratulations" or whatever. It will take the pressure off of trying to visit every table during the reception! Hopefully it will allow us to socialize more freely! We are thinking of doing it at the church, right after the ceremony. Since the ceremony location and the reception location are so close to one another in Barrie, most guests (from the GTA) will be travelling anyways, so they'll most likely be attending both the ceremony and the reception.

Our ceremony/reception is in one spot. After the ceremony we're taking off for pics and our guests will enjoy hors'deurve (sp?) and cocktails. We return and before the guests enter the reception hal, we are doing the recieving line. My family is VERY European though and it's tradition to have the recieving line and do a shot (not 100% sold on that yet lol), but I also want to be able to see everyone before the party starts!! It's a good time to say hello and be the centre of attention lol!

Sorry, to continue, generally the order is bridal party- BM and MOH last, parents (this can be reversed, I'ce seen it both ways) then the bride and groom- never seen kids under 13 even if they were in the WP. Bride and Groom are last. Ours is as you are entering the reception hall- this is how I have seen it- but it's your day!

| This is what I'm thinking: FIL, Father, (Step-father-?), MIL, Mother, Bride, Groom, MOH, BM My Step father may not want to be included....but I'll ask. My "wicked" step mother will not be asked. I hope this works! We do have alot of time to iron things like this out!! Our date is also July 18, 2009 (in Barrie!)
