That's one thing I should have mentioned about reflux and especially about silent reflux... Many Dr.s haven't a clue about silent reflux and it's hard to diagnose. It's not visible like spit up is and babies gain weight -- so, many Dr.s will think nothing of it. I agree go in with as much knowledge as possible and don't give up! My own Dr. said to me -- "Even if it's reflux what are you going to do about it -- tilt his bed 30 degrees and have him slip down his mattress"?! Demand to see a specialist or go to another Dr. who will listen to your concerns. Hey, my Dr. is an amazing Dr., but like anyone he has his faults too and didn't listen to this one concern of mine.

Also, keep a journal/document everything that your lo is doing. Like day one he arched his back after every feeding, had wet hiccups, cried inconsolably, bobbed on and off the breast or bottle, doesn't sleep, stuffed up all the time, etc...

Don't ever believe a Dr. when they say reflux isn't painful. That's a bunch of friggen garbage they are feeding you. Everyone knows that it hurts like hell. Though after saying that there is something called "happy refluxers" which are lo's who spit up tons, but have no pain, but that something totally different to regular or silent reflux.

I'm glad to help Fascha! I know how truly hard it is on you and your lo -- believe me when I say that. It was a *long* hard year for us, but we both survived it. Hey, many days I was crying right along with him, but at least I knew what was causing his extreme grumpiness and crying.

It does get better/easier and your lo will grow out of his reflux!!! Mine did at 11 months. Now I'm dealing with a very spirited toddler who's one stubborn strong minded individual!

I think I mentioned it before, but watch out many refluxers (and I've noticed many silent refluxers) tend to have milk protein allergies and some also have soy allergies. They tend to go hand in hand with each other.

Oliver has a milk protein allergy, but I think he's finally starting to grow out of it. We tested him with yogurt on Thursday and he seems to be handling it well compared to 3 months ago when we tested him.
