We went to get our marriage license today and were told that since our birth certificates have damage on them that we must order new ones before we can get a marriage license! the wedding is in 3 weeeeeeks!!!! We have to get garentors, and re-apply. We will never get them in time!!!! I am sooo scared. Any one else had issues with this? Found solutions? Just want to comfort me? I need it. Tear.....

HUGS

Deep breath.......I had to get my birth certificate replaced and fast and I was living in Ontario and my birth cert is from Alberta.....I don't remember the details, but you can fast track it and I had it in days.  Put your nervous/freak-out energy into figuring out the most effecient way.  I think I was able to fax my application and pay a teeny bit extra to have it express mailed.  I'm not sure what provence you're dealing with, but good luck, its resolvable!

This might be a long shot, but is there somewhere else you could try to get a marriage license from? One clerk might be pickier than another...

If you're born in Ontario and are near one of the big cities, you can get a birth certificate the same day, though you do pay a premium for it.  I know you can get one at the court house in Ottawa.  I imagine there's something similar in Toronto.  And possibly Thunder Bay, where the Ministry seems to be headquartered.
