I can say with all honesty, that when we moved last year (at this time) we were fully moved in (and I'll explain fully more clearly in a moment) after about 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. Around the 2 1/2 week mark, I called a cleaning lady to help me with the first intensive cleaning.
NOW-one year later-I'm just starting with the bit of decorating. I didn't want to do things for the sake of doing them, so I chose things slowly and/or had to save up for them-for example pricey but beautiful curtains for our living room and bedroom.
So like I said we were fully moved in-meaning most furniture (we still have two empty bedrooms and an empty living room as we don't use these rooms yet and would rather furnish them when we have a need or extra money) and clothing etc.
HOWEVER, (and this is getting long winded)-one year later we still have not hung up any photos and I'm just starting with bits of decor.
I'm starting to think this is a lifelong process esp since we both lived with our parents and were starting with a blank slate.
AND the thing with the pictures is we had to wait for our wedding photos and then I need to get them professionally framed-so that accounts for saving extra money.
BUT i was impressed with myself that we were moved in in about two weeks (my sister's been living in her home for almost a month and still has boxes to unpack). It's just the decor that is coming slowly but surely.

| That sounds like me. I'm doing things slowly as I find things I love. I'm also a procrastinator unless I have a list. I've lived in my house for 2 1/2 years and still have a couple of walls with no pics. I had my house unpacked in 1 week so the decor thing is slow.

We've been in our home for two years exactly and still have an empty bedroom (well that's the dog room.lol) and an empty living room (where the dogs mostly play). We have done some paiting in the spring but haven't completed everything. The first couple of years we just got busy with work and the wedding and everything was left "as is". I am only now starting to itch to make it feel more "homey" and adding pics etc. I do believe that it's a life long work as there is always something to do in a home...

We moved in august 16th and we were in the same boat....we both lived with other people soo....we really had nothing of our own....basically our whole house is hand me downs except our new tv (46"sharp flatscreen) and the stand for it....basically...we moved in on the weekend and by the monday the living room and kitchen were set up...now...we have a small MAYBE 1400 sq ft townhouse soo..its a lot easier to decorate AND not to mention we moved into a house that needed no painting...everything was exactly what we wanted...so..made things 10 times easier....AND for our engagement part we received TONS of gift cards for places so...we basically worked on one room at a time..the basement is a wasteland for EVERYTHING we have no clue about..hahaha...the upstairs rooms..our bedroom has our new bedroom set but..thats it....i can assume this is going to be a looooong process....we just pick one room at a time...right now we have one more bookcase we want to buy for the living room and then it'll be done...and..we also have no photos up yet...Oh but we do have a digital picture frame that fh set up so......thats it!hahaha

| we bought all our furniture when we moved in but the decorating was a long process. weve been in our house for a year and a month, but it only started feeling like home many months after we moved in. it felt kinda cold for the first while when we moved in because we both lived with our families before and we both come from big families with los of kids so a busy house, and suddenly we were alone in this big empty house! It was only when I started to decorate that it started feeling more like home. I got plain curtains from Ikea when we moved in but I just got expensive curtains made that were totally worth the wait. other things i just added were centerpieces, pictures on the walls, and a rug. i felt my house was really plain the first year but way better now

| We moved in October/November last year and we still have a crapload of boxes to unpack. I've been trying to get all the rooms painted though... didn't want to unpack things just to pack them again... Also my parents decided to clean our all our bedrooms... so there's more boxes! UGH! I have one room left to paint... and it's a bathroom... and our windows just got put in, so all I got to do is fix up the paint on the windows... and we can FINALLY unpack!!! Oh wait... except we ripped out the basement carpet and are gonna be putting in laminate hopefully soon (we bought the flooring almost a year ago!)... I figure in another 3 years we might finally be settled
