| I have been getting a lot of sinus headaches over the past year ever since I had my first sinus infection. How do you ladies that get these headaches cope with them? They're so painful! I have my first appointment with an acupuncturist next week and I'm hoping that helps cause I'll try anything at this point. I've tried nasal sprays which help sometimes, hot showers also help for a short period. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

| I find that a humidifier while you sleep definately helps the ones in the morning.

| I've tried the sinus Advil, it helped for a bit in the beginning but not so much anymore. I usually just wait it out and suffer...

I suffer chronic tension/pressure migraines and have since I got into my early 20's. I have the Dr. Ho's electro-stim kit which does the same thing as acupuncture, and it helps sometimes. I use it WHEN I have a migraine though, I don't use it when I don't have pain.
My fiance is a good tool as well - he massages my neck/shoulders and scalp when I have a migraine and at least for the time being it relieves the tension. I'm not sure if that would help you (massage) because your pain comes from sinus congestion rather than tension in the muscles, but I'm sure it can't hurt to try and see.
I also found that by cutting back on sugar/salt and also getting more regular exercise that I was able to reduce the frequency of my headaches. Birth control pills gave me really bad migraines as well.
Hot showers often help temporarily for me too. Sometimes and ice pack wrapped in a tea towel on my head helps. I take Advil Liquigel for migraines. You might try taking Dristan or something for sinus congestion. My fiance has sinus issues and he takes that sometimes.
You might try one of those sinus drain kits at Shoppers Drug Mart. they have a thing that looks like a little plastic teapot and you mix the stuff up with water and flush out your sinuses with it to eliminate the congestion. You might also try those Vicks nasal inhalers and/or eating something very hot (i.e. a hot pepper or wasabi hot mustard or something) - just enough on the tip of your tongue (or whichever part of your tongue is most sensitive to hot - I forget) to clear your sinuses. It's worked for me when I have a head cold. It helps that I like hot stuff. lol

| I have a lot of problems with sinuses and headaches for the past year. I've had allergies beginning December 07 and they haven't stopped to date. My allergist recommended a sort of flush. I haven't done it yet (bad me!!) but he says he recommends it to everyone. If I can remember correctly.. Begin by either a hot shower, or putting your head over boiling water covered by a towel for 10-15 minutes. Blow your nose if required. Next, you need to get this spray at any drug store, can't remember the name brand but there's a dolphin on it. It's about 20$ or so. The closest to a spray rather then a mist is better.. Flush your sinuses out with this.. Blow your nose again if required.. Then finally, use Nasonex, this is a prescription however.. and blow your nose. Repeat this twice a day for at least 2-3 weeks. Apparently, it works like magic and you should have fairly clear sinuses for a few months. It may need to be repeated after a few months. I should really get on it and start it!!! I just don't wake up early enough to go through the whole regiment in the morning but lately, I've been dying.. so who knows. My allergies however go beyond just sinus headaches On another note, if your headaches are more like tension/pressure headaches and the sinuses just ADD to it, not the cause of it.. I have had this problem too and have almost erradicated it. I also am prone to migraines so this may not be for you. My doctor had referred me to a neurologist, as I suffered migraines since 7, and had headaches that would last weeks. I'm fairly tolerent of pain now!! Anyway, he put me on some anti-convulsents or anti-seizure meds.. I can't remember the name, it's been that long since I needed to use them. I was on it fr 3 months straight. Had some side effects while on them but nothing too serious.. but after about a month and a half, headaches just disapeared! Then after I finished my round of meds, didn't get a migraine for a year.. my tension/pressure headaches gone.. I called it a wonder drug lol. I'm not epilleptic or anything, but apparently this medication helps for headache/migraine sufferers too somehow. I only get a really bad headache about every 6 months or so. A big change from at least every week. I'd see your doc about it. There's a lot of options out there. Good luck! I didn't realize until now how horrible allergies are.. I feel bad for anyone who's suffered their whole life
