I have done a search but can't seem to find any posts on here about water births? I am not TTC or anything (probably not for a couple years! LOL) but I am doing some "research". I have seen a lot of water births on TV shows...especially "House of Babies", and I am wondering if that will be something I would like to do? Can you do that in a hospital in Ontario? We don't have birthing centres here do we? Has anyone done a water birth who could share their info/experience?
Thanks in advance!

My sister lives in Hamilton, Ontario and had a home water birth with 2 midwives and a doula...she bought a birthing pool, set it up in one of her rooms, and had a nice relaxing setting with music.
You can not give birth in the water in a hospital setting, but can do this at home with midwives, doula's, etc present.
Hope that helps!

We're having our LO in Markham Ontario, and the hospital does have a jacuzzi, but as beachnut said you can't actually deliver in the water in a hospital. The jacuzzi would be used to aid with contractions etc. We also have a midewife and they are associated with the hospital.

Thanks beachnut and niki, that does help. So you can use a tub at the hospital if they have one, but have to get out to actually have the baby. I am a little nervous to do the homebirth thing, but you never know I may want to! I am afraid of hospitals (GERMS!), epidurals, episiotomies, IV's, etc. so maybe a home water birth would be the way to go! At least I still have time to think about it. Hey maybe by the time I am TTC the hospitals will have water births!
