I had my caterer make my cakes.
3 of them, 8, 10, and 12 inches. 3 different flavours, no decorations (I added sugar flowers myself) and it cost 60$.
And in the end no one ate any anyways. We ended up eating it all at our brunch the next day.

| Our cake cost $200 and no one ate any at the reception. Needless to say, we had a lot left over (oh about enough for 100 people). We froze it and when we took some out to thaw and eat it was delicious!
DH picked the cake topper!

I know this will not be a popular opinion but my DH (got married July 27/08) and I did not have a cake at all. It was not important and we knew it would not be eaten. I don't think anyone even noticed. If they did no one said anything all night. My DH and I sure didn't miss it. Then again we only had 45 people.

| Ours is a simple three tier square cake with white fondant and black ribbon around the bottom of each tier. It is "golden butter" flavour with fresh cream and berries in layers inside. He's also doing the cake topper a "c&k" monogram that stands up on top out of sugar (y'know that hard sugar that they can stretch and mold and make art out of?)in black. For that, plus delivery and setup (from a city that is 30 minutes from our venue) and rental of the cake stand (50 bucks that is refundable when he gets it back) it is $475. I thought it was crazy, but now that I read this thread, I think it's not *that* bad. Could have done without it, but I am sure *HOPE* it will look pretty! LOL
Moved into our first home July 25th, 2008! Got married on August 23rd, 2008 in New Brunswick! BEST. PARTY. EVER.
Now just renovating the house.
