smurf993 (9/5/2008) sorry to hijack the thread, but why can't you go in early preganacy? DH and I are going to Mexico in Feb... if i am lucky enough to get pregnant... i would only be a few months.... is that not a good idea?I think the only reason that it might not be a good idea is that most of the "symptoms" occur in the first trimester, such as morning sickness. I'm sure some people would be just fine, I think it's just a precaution to make sure you actually enjoy your vacation hehe. however, I'm not an expert so there may be other reasons.

I am going on a cruise in January and you can't be any further along than 24 weeks. If you are 24 weeks or later, they won't let you go. Depending on where you are going and when you are planning on going, you may need to get a note from your doctor saying how far a long you are. You should check with the travel system you are using to see what their rules are.

Talk to your doctor about the possibility of going away. He/she will know whether it is a good idea based on your health and the baby's health. You might not want to go before 3 months just in case you do have m/s but I also wouldn't want to leave it too late in the pregnancy either. Check if the airlines have any information about pregnancy and flying, they might have advisories for the public regarding what is the best time to stop flying.
All in all I think its a great idea to get away. Have fun and enjoy yourself!

Other then some of the medical reasons, I think its totally a personal decision too! I have always been a girl who loved to lay out in the sun, swim the ocean, and sit on a lounge chair by the pool... Until I became pregnant that is.. This summer, I haven't been able to tolerate the sun or heat in the least! Other then my body temp getting too high, I have this (dont laugh) strange feeling like Im cooking my sun too much.. hahaha.....

| Does anyone know if you have to disclose your pregnancy to the airline??? Like do you have to tell them you are a pregnant traveller? And/or do you need a doctor's note saying you are "safe to fly?"

I think if you don't disclose that you're pregnant and you are obviously pregnant they may not let you fly unless you have a note from your doc stating what week you are in. Airlines have different policies re: pregnant travellers and up to what time frame they will let you fly with them. You should be able to find the policies online. If in doubt, call the airline and ask.
