When should you get your husband's sperm counted....like how long should you be ttc before sperm count could be the issue?

OR

can you get it counted just to know?

typically, after ttcing for 1 year, without getting pregnant, you should ask your doctor to start testing both you and your husband and one of those tests is a sperm analysis in which your husband provides a sperm sample, and it goes to the lab to be "washed" and counted. In addition, they will tell you how mobile the sperm are or if there are issues with motility and with the sperm themselves.

Although I don't know for sure if they would or not, I doubt they will request a sperm analysis to be done for your husband just because you want to know what his count is. I would think there has to be a legitimate reason why it needs to be counted.

hope that helps.

The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.

Making the decision to have a child-it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom.

To understand a mother's love, bear your own children.

Mother is the name for God on the lips& in the hearts of little children.

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.

Hey Vivi,
We asked the dr if my husband could be tested after 10 months of ttc...but before doing the test, he wanted to make SURE we knew about timing intercourse properly and if I know when I ovulate, etc.

If you wanted to get it tested just for the sake of testing it then I would think you would have to pay for it to be done unless you have a medical reason to get it done.  Also, there are lots of fertility problems a couple can have and it may not be related to his sperm count at all.

Personally, I would not go out and get medical testing until there is cause for concern b/c that may cause extra worry.

My FH got a rec for a semen analysis after we had been trying for only 2 months, the test is easy and both our doctors (mone recommended it and his had no problem giving him the order) had no problem - FH is 40 and has no children but we didnt have any real concerns - with good reason everything came back normal.
