| So Kate has had hour teeth for a few weeks now, two on top and two on bottom and has not once attempted to bite me - well tonight she did and mother trucker it stung and she drew blood the little bratt. I was hoping to nurse until she was a year and could go straight to whole milk but i am so not prepared to put my body thru that sort of abuse. So my question is how can you prevent the biting or nip it in the bud??

ok I just went through this. Say "NO!" and take your boob away till LO is very hungry, if they are actively eating they won't bite you. Unfortunately it may be a phase. DD did it for about 2 weeks then just stopped. So you can try to ride it out but for lots of moms it's a deal breaker! If you want more info or support feel free to pm me.

The other option, if you really can't stand the biting (or she doesn't get better) is to pump breast milk and give it to her in bottles. At least she's getting the benefit of it, and your nipples won't get the abuse.
I'm sorry, I don't have any other advice. I bet gr8blessings would, though, if she doesn't respond, you should PM her.
Good luck,
Melissa

My sis just pulled her breast away very quickly and abruptly from baby when he bit and he was so startled - he caught on that if he bit, the breast was "taken away" -- and he only bit her that one time....not sure what else to suggest...

It was always when he was playing around and didn't really want to nurse. I'd try to stay away from pumping and bottle feeding. Mostly because you'll produce less milk. But if you do go that route, make sure you don't shake the bottle! Let us know how it goes... good luck!
