As I have been looking into wedding transportation I am thinking of doing something else other than limos.  Does anyone have any good ideas?  (preferably more affordable than limos).

hmm you could find out how much it costs to rent a bus, maybe even a double decker if available in your area, or coach. or a city bus.

DH and I had a coach bus and I must say it was the best decision we made.  We had about 25 people on the bus to go to photos and it was awesome!

It had TV's so we brought a concert to play while we drove around town.  We got lots of honks from passing cars

What is the theme of your wedding? that should help people come up with some interesting ideas for you. For example, I know of one couple I saw on a wedding tv show, where their theme was an eco-friendly wedding, and they rented Toyota Prius cars to tote their wedding party around in. It wasn't exactly "pretty" but it went w/ their theme. if you're doing a traditional cinderella style wedding you might consider horse/carriage (depends how far you have to travel). If you're doing funky you might consider Volkswagen beetles in your theme colours - 3 of them would probably cost the same as renting one limo with a driver for a few hours, depending... if someone you know has a really fancy sports car you could ask them to borrow that. If you or FH are fans of vintage cars you might check w/ a local vintage car club and see if you can hire one or two for your big day.

Me (29) + FH (32) + his son (12) = 9.5 years together

Done so far:
Asked wedding party, decided on venue (Miller Lash), got catering quotes, decided theme, brainstorming details, started dress search, hired kicka$$ planner, made vendor lists, fought with FMIL, made up with FMIL, lost e-ring, found e-ring... only 10 mos to go!

We had 2 SUV's (one for the guys, one for the girls) and a car for DH and I (was supposed to be a sport's car but DH didn't confirm the week of....long story.  A good friend of DH's drove us to/from pictures and the reception).

This worked VERY well for us as we had the SUV's for 4 days - picking people up at the airport, shuttling to/from church etc.  Plus, it was WAY less than a limo.

We are going to rent 2 SUV's as well.  One for the men and one for the ladies. Even to have them for 3 days, it will be half the price of limos. Good luck!
