Have any of you ladies had experience with getting your e-ring online. I want a blue diamond and you can only get them custom ordered. I found one on an online site, and have fallen in love with it. FH is leary of ordering it online because of "scams".

If any of you have experiences or advice can you please share.

Thanks,

Cat

We ordered my wedding band onlne and it ended up being a complete disaster, I wouldnt risk it. There is no reason a local dealer of yours couldnt order you the stone of your choice !

Good luck

Hi, I had my setting custom made here b/c we had a credit with a jeweller but we ordered the diamond online...I must say it was the best decision...the quality of the stone for the price was amazing...here are a couple of very reputable places. We ordered from Whiteflash (and will probably get them to make my wedding band)

www.whiteflash.com

www.goodoldgold.com

www.bluenile.ca

Do your research first: www.pricescope.com

Good luck whichever way you choose and PM me if you want any specifics.

My FH purchased my engagement ring online and I absolutely love it. It's perfect. He purchased it from Blue Nile. The band is 18k gold, the diamond is a princess cut (the 4 c's were pretty high on the rathings, don't remember what they were exactly). It came with an appraisal certificate. I wouldn't hesitate about ordering another piece from there. I can't speak for other online stores, as they're not all the same, but I do recommend Blue Nile.

I would avoid it...

I also had my heart set on a blue diamond. After seeing mny online, with reasonable prices, we set out to a custom jeweller to get the ring made. When we brought up blue diamonds, he said one of the little side princess cuts (about 0.25 carats) would cost more and be of much lower quality than the center stone we currently had chosen (an excellent about 1.25 carats). I showed him the websites and he said something was fishy, because even at his wholesale price, blue diamonds are simply a LOT more expensive than what the websites show.

Hope this helps!

We bought DH's wedding ring online... I will say I was a bit skeptical (sp?).. spending a couple hundred and not knowing for sure what you are going to get... BUT we called them first, checked out their website, they were listed on the better business bureau all good... so we did it.... and we couldn't have been happier!!! We saved a couple hundred on the same ring in the local jewelery stores.

But some of the websites we looked at were a little sketchy... one didn't return emails or phone calls so we definately didn't order from them.  So I'd suggest just do a bit of research and see if you can find anything about them before you buy!

We got my e-ring designed at herdreamdiamond.com. They have their office just outside of Winnipeg so my FH and I were able to go in, in person. They were FABULOUS! Travis spent over an hour with us talking about different kinds of diamonds and showed us a number of examples. After we had selected our diamonds we got to sit on leather couches while we watched them design my ring using autocad on a flat screen tv. We live 3 hours from Winnipeg so we continued the consultations by e-mail, they would send us pictures of the design and they were happy to make all the little changes we asked for.

When it came time to purchase they had the ring made and shipped to us in less than a week (and this was the week before Christmas too!). We were so happy.

I have had my ring independently appraised and the diamonds are exactly what we were told we were buying. If you have a picture of a ring you like I would e-mail them. They can make anything! I will for sure be going back for my wedding band, which will be made to fit my e-ring exactly because the mold is cast from the computer model there is no guess work.
