Does anyone know of any good, inexpensive venues in the Niagara/st.catharines area that allow you to bring in your own caterer? I was thinking about Navy Hall but I haven't seen it yet. Has anyone had a wedding in the hall? How about the barn at Balls Falls?

Right now i am booked at balls falls, and though i like it i might change venues. we are in the fall, and we were there the other day and there were flies there (apart of the season, was fine in the summer). and because you can see though many of the boards, if there is a wind and its cold there will be no real way to heat the space. AND the bathrooms are 100ft from the barn, which will suck if it rains, and are not that clean, little stalls, and  inconvient in a large dress to say the least.

Plus its they have terrible chairs, and I had to get special permission to be able to bring in my own chairs , and have to accomodate for their chairs either putting them in a box van or keeping them inside.

Plus I am afraid that rather beign an elegant wedding in a rusting setting I will end up in a rugged rustic wedding in a rustic setting. I am afraid that it will take more money to take it the level of elegance i want than i can budget for.

Thats my input. the only other place I can suggest is in like Flamborough area. too far north for you.

It definitely might cost you more to bring everything in. That said you might consider bringing in heat lamps... but next year is supposed to be cooler than average most of the year at least for spring/summer and I would imagine fall as well. But how much will it cost you to lose your deposit on the place? If it is a few grand you might just put that into decor/heating instead of losing it and having to start again elsewhere.

Done so far:
Asked wedding party, decided on venue (Miller Lash), got catering quotes, decided theme, brainstorming details, started dress search, hired kicka$$ planner, made vendor lists, fought with FMIL, made up with FMIL, lost e-ring, found e-ring... only 10 mos to go!

Thanks.. I think I may cross Balls Falls off the list. Sounds like it might cause me stress.

Good luck.

We assumed heat lamps, but it might push us over budget. and because there are gaps in the boards, if it is windy the wind will whip right behind the boards though and carry the heat out with it. plus with a 20+ foot ceiling (or somehtign like that) it would be nearly impossible to heat. even with my 100+ candles I am concerned.

If i back out now i will only loose like $200, which i might be able to get a tax reciept for at the very least.

In that case definitely book something else. Do you have to book in Niagara? What other venues were you interested in?
