I know people say it can take up to 6-8 months for a wedding dress to come in but what happens if you plan on losing a lot of weight in the meantime, how do you go about ordering a dress. My wedding is sept 26th, 2009 and i plan on losing almost 100 pounds by then...already lost 15 since i started in September. So how do i go about ordering a dress i mean if i get fitted for one in the next few months my size is totally going to change alot by the time the wedding comes around in sept (hopefully lol). So i have noooo idea what to do, can you actually do that much alterations to a dress?
I can't wait to marry my best friend, September 26, 2009.

It's hard to say, exactly how much weight you will lose and where you will lose it...That's a really extreme a mount of weight your hoping to lose...not the best idea when ordering your dress...I would imagine a ton of alterations and the money spent, and the dress most likely will not look the same..I heard of 20 , 30, pounds, before a wedding, I don't this is the time to do it, or you should lose as much as you can b4 you order it...it's your call, you could always find a great dress off the rack a few months b4 the wedding...I would,t risk all that money and emotions for a dress, your hubby loves you the way you are, and I realize you want to look your best..but don't get your self sick over it..I am sure you'll look beautiful just as you are

delivery times depend on the dress designer; some (most i think) come in in only 3-4 months. i know maggie sottero dresses are the ones that usually take 6-8 months.
BUT, i also know that you can usually RUSH ORDER the dress. now you may have to pay an extra $50-100 or something, but it would give you alot more time, and save on having to rework your whole dress by a seamstress!
this way you could work on losing more of the weight until like march or april 2009, then order your dress in a closer size. also by the, you will have been losing weight for about 8 months, and will have an idea on how much more you anticipate losing by september.

When I bought my dress I was told that every 15 pounds lost is a dress size. I ordered mine one size smaller than I actually measured. I am losing weight but I definately didn't want the pressure of trying to fit in a gown that is too small. You have less than a year until your wedding and the dress is a big deal. I think it's great that you are losing weight and have a positive attitude about it but you can't buy a dress based on the size you HOPE to be. It's much easier to take a dress in then to let it out.

I dont want to poo hoo on you but chances are you are not going to loose 100lb in that time. im not saying its never been done, or it cant be but that's a complete overhaul on your life style, and during stressful time of wedding planning its very hard to stick to such a strict lifestyle. Though I do wish you the best of luck. honestly I do, and I am sure you will probably loose a great deal of weight. As such I would recommend going to look at dresses, then find out what the realistic delivery time of dresses are and leave off the ordering of the dress to the last minute. if all has gone well and you continue to loose a steady amount of weight i would talk to the shop about ordering one size smaller, but not more than one size. I would think it is wiser to have a dress in hand and need alterations done, then leave it till the last minute, and pay just as much (or more) in rush fees with a possibility of not having it in time.
