| Hello everyone! My boyfriend and I have recently gotten engaged and are looking to do a beach wedding in the Dominican Republic. I have done quite a bit of research on preferred resorts in PuntaCana. My top resorts to date are the Majestic Elegance (opening inOct. 08) - sister to Majestic Colonial, Bahia Principe Bavaro, Iberostar Bavaro, Dreams.. Wondering if someone has been married at one of these resorts and if you have any feedback. Also, what are the costs associated to the wedding? We are looking for a private reception for 50 or so people with open bar. I thank you in advance for your feedback. Gracias!

| We had our wedding at the Majestic and it was great. I have also stayed at the Bavaro and it was great. I also knew someone who was married at the Bahia and their pictures looked great. Personally I don't think you will have a bad time at any of the resorts. The cost for a private reception at the Majestic may be a bit pricey. Not sure what the other resorts charge. I would suggest checking out some of the Facebook groups - there is one for the Majestic and I think the Bahia Here is the Majestic link http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2406102439

I have visited three of those properties....The Majestic is a beautiful hotel..it's grand and lush..it is very true to it's name..MAJESTIC! It was actually my second choice for my wedding...
The Bahia is a totally different property..it is very large..and somewhat confusing to figure out...the one great thing about this hotel is the piazza...which is a large square with shops..etc...at night, everyone congregates to this area...I did see a wedding at this location and it was very nice...
Dreams is somewhat like the Majestic..it is very grand. The one bad thing about this property is that it is one of the furthest from the airport..about an hour i think....I did not like this property too much as it seemed to cater to a more subdued older clientele..for example, playing classical music everywhere..i guess they wanted to push that "dreamlike" quality...this hotel had the best spot for a wedding which was the private cliff area overlooking the beach..the only problem was that the area around it was really dirty....they did have a private terrace where you could have ur reception and it was beautiful...
I guess it all depends on what kind of place you see yourself getting married in and what you would like for your guests...
in the end I chose the Oceans Sand Golf and Beach Hotel...it is a very hip, colourful and fun resort..the property is beautiful and the beach is the best in bavaro...the wedding is free if you have a certain amount of people.....it's the place that works for myself and my fiance..and i believe that our guests will love the laid back feel to it....when i go to to the carribean, i don't really want to hear classical music..
good luck!!

| I will be getting married at Dreams Punta Cana in November, so feel free to ask me any questions about the property. Once we decided on Dreams I have never doubted our decision.

| We were at 2 resorts in the DR last year (November) and I would strongly advise avoiding LaRomana, but the Grand Bahia Principe in Punta Cana was gorgeous! We saw several weddings while we were there - and the grounds are perfect for it. Good luck!
