Me and my other engaged friend went to some bridal stores today. We went to Sposabella in West Edmonton Mall. When we walked in, a lady at the front asked what we were looking for and when our weddings were. I showed her a picture of a dress I was interested in, and she got another girl from the store to help me. The dress is simple, so the lady at the counter suggested we go to the bridesmaid section. The girl helping us asked if we were bridesmaids, and when we told her we were brides she seemed a bit surprised. We browsed around, my friend tried on a dress, everything was normal. Then the girl was browsing with us. WE each found 2 we wanted to try on, so she hung them up outside a change room and said we'd have to go to the front to "Register". We went to the front, and a different lady started asking us questions. I said we were alreayd being helped by "Jane", and she got all surprised, telling us it was "Jane"'s first day, she wasn't supposed to be helping brides, she could only be in the bridesmaid section. She told us we would have to register and then wait up to an hour. I asked if we could leave out the dresses we already picked. She told us we would have to put them back incase someone else wanted to try them, and an actual "consultant" would have ot "pull" the dresses for us. We told her when our weddings ar (Aug 07 and Apr 08) and she just told us to come back in October or November! Obviously if we were there today we wanted to start looking now. She was very rude to us and seemed to be treating us that way because we both look young, because we are. The first lady should have told us right when we walked in to fill out a registration, instead of having us waste half an hour looking around. I aked if they could write down the style numbers of the ones we picked, and she made me do it myself, like I'm supposed to know what all those numbers are. It was my first time wedding dress shopping.
SORRY it is so long, but I was very disappointed and unimpressed. We both felt very disrespected.
They should treat everyone that comes into their store with respect. They could have made a lot of money off of us if we each bought all of their bridal attire form their store.
Thanks for listening.

Don't worry! Most stores are not like that. I was shopping in Windsor, and there were a few stores, that barely helped and were rude, BUT most were very nice. Eventually, you will find a store that has YOUR dress, and is very friendly and helpful!

I have heard from others that Sposabella is not good quality in their dresses but especially their service. I did go in there once to ask them about their custom work. I got lots of dirty looks in general. I asked one of the workers at the desk if I could see their portfolio to see their custom work. She said they had no such thing. Then she just went back to chatting with another attendent. I asked her if there were any examples of their custom work. She gave me a dirty look for having interupted her and stompted off to point out two dresses on the racks. Then without a word went back to the front desk to her chat. I left without another word. I would not recomend them to anyone looking for any dresses and you especially don't want that negative attitude during your wedding dress shopping.

I found them so rude! I walked out in the first dress (I has picked several different styles as this was my first time trying on gowns) and then woman took one look at me, without even hearing my opinion, and told me it didn't suit me and made me look "big." Gee, thanks. Way to make me feel good.

I realize they do this everyday, but for the brides coming into their store it is a special day. They should hire people who can be excited for the women. Really, who wants to buy a wedding dress from a bitter old crone?!

Ember thats so true! When I go to a bridal salon, Im aware these women do this for a living and Im not expecting anything over the top. Just some good old customer service. But I would hope they would PRETEND to be excited, especially when you think about how much money your handing to them.

Absolutely LOVING married life

I've only gone to one bridal salon so far and the customer service I got was awesome.  I think any other store I go to is going to have a hard time living up to the ladies at this store and their level of customer service.

Don't feel that it's just you that they picked on at Sposabella in WEM. When I went to try on gowns, no one really seemed to know what was going on. Then just last month I went in with my girlfriend who is getting married in June, wanting to buy a veil. She wanted a fingertip style, and when I used "veil" terms, the girl stared at me blankly and said, "They all come in the same length and then you cut them." Umm, ok.

Go to a different store. Try Kathy at Ethos in WEM, or I have heard great things about The Bridal House in St. Albert. Good luck. Don't be discouraged.
