We have the Graco Safeseat that goes to 30 pounds and 32 inches. When is Nolan too big for it when he meets both of those or just one. If one which one, weight or height. I really like getting him all ready in the warm house and just snapping him into the base. Sorry if this is a no brainer question but I have asked around and no one seems to know the answer!!

I would think that it would be when he reaches either of them. Whichever comes first.

Yup, I'd say either but it should say in your manual. In our case, DS is 32 inches but only 21 pounds. We had to switch him anyways!

Definitely weight. Height is a little trickier...it's OK as long as their head is 1 inch below the top of the seat. If you exceed the weight OR height then you must move up to the next seat.
PS You must have some serious mommy muscles..DD2 is only 15 lbs and I'm finding her and the seat heavy. DH was packing her around on the weekend and he was finding her heavy. DD1 is only 25 lbs but I still couldn't imagine packing her around in an infant seat. I must start working out more.

Thanks Ladies, I guess I have a bit longer with the seat. DS is 29 inches and 21 pounds(very heavy while lugging him and the carseat. But soo convienient!!) I am guessing he makes it to 32 inches before he gets to 30 pounds.

Are you talking about switching from a rear-facing seat to a forward-facing? Because in that case, there is a third factor - the child's age. Transport Canada says it's dangerous to put a child in a forward-facing seat before they are 1 year old. Obviously if they are too big (height/weight) for their rear-facing seat before then, that's a problem, and you'll need to get a rear-facing seat with higher capacity! Sucks, I know, but better safe than sorry!
Don't forget that whole thing with the blankets/coats/snowsuits and the seats....
