So Lucas is insanely congested, to the point where he's up every two bloody hours at night because he can't breathe. I feel so bad for the little guy. Anything you guys did to make your lo feel better when they had a cold?

Saline drops. They weren't miracle workers but they did help get rid of the mucus a little.

We were just at emergency wednesday night because Austin had a nasty cough / cold going on. The doc at the walk-in clinic didn't have time to see us so she told us to go there. Anyways, the doctor said there isn't much you can do that viruses seem so much worse in babies then they really are. He did recommend the saline drops and a DE - humidifier. I was going to use a humidifier. If his nose is really stuffy try to elevate his head. DON'T put pillows or anything IN the crib! I know I don't need to remind you but what the heck! Other then that you just have to let it run it's course.

Awww...poor guy...and you!! Anthony had a nasty cold about a month ago. The poor kid had such a hard time nursing because he couldnt breathe through his nose. I inclined his crib mattress and every night before bed I gave him a really warm menthol vapour bath with the bathroom door closed so it was nice and steamy. I bought baby vicks and put it on his chest and back before bed and used the nasal aspirator to clean his nose. This seemed to clear him right up and he was able to nurse before bed no problem. We also used his cool mist humidifier in his room and gave him tylenol when he needed it. Believe it or not during his cold is when ds started to sleep through the night again! I would definitely try the vapour bath and baby vicks. It worked wonders for us. Good luck!

Jaxi had a bad cold last week. I found that saline drops followed bu the nasel asperator a minute later and a cold mist humidifier made him much more comfy.

Thanks ladies, I did use saline drops before bed last night and he got a good 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep, woohoo!!! (more woohoo for me than for him, lol). He's still congested but it's not as bad as it was the last couple of days.
