What is the procedure for crossing the boarder into the states with an infant?? We want to go to buffalo to get baby stuff after he is born (we want to go now, but are too scared because of our preterm labour risk) but were wondering what type of paper work we require??

| All you will need is the baby's birth cert. I inquired about this when my son was 2 months old, and the guards at the border (I called) told me that I would need a birth cert. and a letter from the other parent (if both are not going) giving permission for his/her child to cross the border.

As far as I know you just need the birth certificate.

We went when our daughter was 3 weeks old and we hadn't even registered her birth. I brought her temp health card, her hospital paperwork that had our last name on it (to match my id), the name card from the bassinet at birth, and both of our hospital bracelets.
Scary thing was, they didn't ask for any of it They asked how many people, we said 7...handed them paperwork for 6 and that was the end of that (they saw the infant seat so I am guessing they just trusted us...scary).
We did it After 7 years, we finally made it official Such an amazing evening!
