I am so sorry for the loss of your friend.

For the past 25 years Albertas Safety Council has been putting on a Motorcycle Toy Run as part of Santas Anonymous. My in-laws and husband are all Harley owners and have been participating in the run for the past few years.

This year over 4,000 bikers here in the Edmonton area participated in the run and filled a 53' foot trailer with toys!!! And raised and donated over $23,000!!!

Every year at work we adopt a family and buy them presents.  As this is our first year with a baby on the way, I am even more aware of how hard it is for some parents out there.  I would be honoured to buy some extra gifts or food for a family in honour of Darcy.

It's really sad that you lost your friend. She was so young... but she isn't forgotten and the fact that you're doing all this good in her memory is a great way to celebrate her life and the great person that she was.

I donate every year at work, food and non-perishable items, and I will find some way to help this year too even if I'm on mat leave. I'll check what they have in my neighborhood. They have a huge bin to donate used goods and we go to give clothes and other stuff we're not using anymore but for the Holidays, I think I can do much more and give something new or food.

I'm in Montreal too so let me know if you need any help.

Proud mom of baby girl Raphaëlle since May 22!

Your story is very touching and I know that Darcy is proud of you for writing this. I am definitely looking forward to donating gifts this year.

Chris, so sweet and sad at the same time.  You're doing a great thing!

Each year at around Christmas time, I choose a charity / shelter and donate $200.  Last year it was our local women's shelter,  this year it will be the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, we had a scare with Lucas and this is my way of saying thank God that everything ended up being fine, but it sure made me 100% more aware of it than I was before and just how badly funding is needed.

Lucas joined us on July 13th, 2008
