A lot of my friends who are/were pregnant always talked about what to eat and not to eat while pregnant.  There is so much info out there....is there anything that you felt you should know even before starting to try to conceive i.e getting on vitamins etc.?

helpful tips:

Start taking pre natals a few months before conceiving if possible

Amino acids for men increase sperm count

Eating a well balanced diet while pregnant can help avoid a number of compliations with you or baby

Go off of BC as soon as you can to regulate cycles although it's not necessary.

Read!

And personally "the business of being born" is a worth while movie for expectAnt mothers to watch

Make sure you've gone to the dentist and had and cavities filled if necessary.

Get a check up and make sure all your shots are up to day (tetnus sp?  flu shot or whatever you need).

Take a prenatal and make sure you are getting enough folic acid.

Save money.

Get to know your cycle... maybe read Taking Charge or your Fertility or register at mymonthlycycles or fertility friend or something.

All this is just ideas, nothing too critical

I strongly second this!  I wish I had known more about my cycles before TTC.  What we are taught in school just seems to skim the surface.

Good luck

essential amino acids... Just like a vitamin for men. Pharmacies even health isles at grocery stores might carry them. Fatty acids... Etc all help withsperm production and count.
