I was just at Toys r Us shopping for my nephew's first birthday gift, and forgot to check where the toy was made til I got home.  Guess what??  Made in China!!  I'm not comfortable with childrens products made in China these days in light of all the recent lead/melamine, etc etc issues.

My question is this...does anyone know off the top of their head companys that do NOT have their toys made in China?  It would be much easier if I knew what brands to check out, instead of wading through all the different ones.

Thanks.

We've been ordering toys  online for our LO.  There are tons of website companies that specifically say "not made in china" .  Just do a search for non-toxic toys.  Some sites actually tell you which countries the toys are made in & you can choose which ones to look through. I'll see if i can find where i bookmarked them.

heres one of them:  http://www.planethappytoys.com/Products/Origin.html

I think most are made in CHINA.   Honestly though, I don't think the toys would be on the shelf if it wasn't safe.   And if it unsafe, there would've been a recall on them and be taken off the shelf.    Not all toys MADE IN CHINA are like that.

Regardless, I'm not comfortable.

As much as it would be nice to assume that every toy is tested for toxins and safety, it just isn't so. Moreso, toys coming from China

I also like to purchase toys and clothing not made in China (and yes, it's hard and usually more expensive) because a.) I like to purchase things manufactured by fair trade companies as much as I reasonably can and b.) I just don't trust things made in China especially if I know Lucas will be putting it in his mouth (whether or not it's meant to go there LOL)

There is a link online at BRU on the left side of the website called "Made in North America" which, although limited, has a few things to take a look at.
Other than that flip it over and 9/10 put it back LOL

And what if the problem hasn't been found yet... you're at home listening to the radio, while your LO jams a toy in his mouth when you hear "XXXX toy has just been recalled"

MANY toys on the shelves have been unsafe before they're 'caught'.

~~Beans~~

We did it, and it was everything I imagined it would be!
