DH has allergies, but we heard somewhere that if you start with a tiny kitten, then you can get used to that one pet. You'll still be allergic to other cats, but not necessarily your own. DH is kindly going to try this theory out

I'm allergic to cats but my own doesn't bother me anymore (he did for the first few months). I do get sneezy at other people's houses though.

I went to the humane society with a travel bag and took home whatever cat crawled in first. Parker was the first. I then picked him up and he wrapped both his arms around my neck and wouldn't let go. Needless to say he came home.

Orange tabbies are definitely my favorite.

Good Luck!

FH has really bad allergies too, which really sucks for me as I am a huge animal lover. When I was growing up we had 3 dogs and 3 cats! I miss having a furbaby but FH is worth the sacrifice!

Hey Kris! I caught up on the "thinking about marriage" thread. I didn't want to get into it over there, but I wanted to tell you how amazing you are for being tolerant, patient and respectful of even those who are outright attacking you and don't deserve your respect. You're inspiring.

Zim, the ministers plural is b/c it's a husband and wife team, they are both ministers but only one will actually perform the ceremony and in our case it's the man ...

That's neat! It seems like you'll be getting double the attention, which definitely would help during the counselling stage.

DH and I got sidetracked... Haven't left the house yet.

Kris, do you mean just any old travel bag, or a cat carry case? DH and I have just realised that if we find the love of our life today, we have nothing "proper" to take him or her home in...

I had a cat carry bag. You can find inexpensive ones. Sometimes humane societies have boxes with breathing vents on one side but not always so you might need one.
