I have a beautiful platinum solitaire from Birks. Absolutely love it. They don't have a lot of selection on their website, and I haven't gone into the shop.. but I have a feeling there may not be alot of selection and I find it hard to spend over a thousand dollars on a plain, platinum band.. If you ering is one metal.. does your wband have to be the same? This may be a silly question as I guess plat. has it's own look.

Do you think its tacky of me to try on wedding bands at different stores? Even though I didnt buy my ering from them?

I will likely go to a different store for my wedding band.  I have the Amorique from Birks and have been really disappointed with how we've been treated (another thread) so FH and I have decided that we may as well look around.  The only matching band for my ering is plain platinum and I'd like some sparkle in there so we'll see what happens.  Birks does have several nice bands but I'm not sure if I'll end up there again.

As long as your ering and band are the same metal no one will ever know.

I agree with Candy. If you get two different metals, they will start to look different after a while, once the lose their shine.

I think that having two rings from two different stores is no biggie. as long as they are the same metal.

You could even get something made

My wedding band is 10kt white gold and my engagement ring is 14kt white gold and if you look really close you can see a tiny difference but not much. Doesn't bother me at all...lol. We didn't know that there was going to be that much of a difference...

I would highly recommend getting the same metal for your wedding band- but get it from wherever you want. They don't need to come from the same store.

My family has this weird upper class thing going on, so anything like mixing metals, mixing the wrong colours, wearing synthetic material, or mixing patterns is highly frowned upon!!!

Apart from that, if you choose a different metal, one will be harder and wear away at the softer one over time. If your engagement ring is harder that's not problem, I guess! You can just buy a new wedding band after it wears down too much.

If your ering is platinum I definitely think you should get a platinum wedding band.  Find a picture of a wedding band you like and take it to a jeweller to get it made.

I don't think its a big deal to go to a different store.  I'm probably going to end up getting my Wring from a diff store, as we didnt like the service at our jeweler (although he has great stuff and great wuality and Ive known him for a while, we had some issues with my Ering.).
