I know there's been bad publicity because of the Natalee Holloway case, but I've been to most of the popular vacation islands and Aruba is still the safest. What happened to Natalee happens every day somewhere in Canada and the States. Aruba has the best beaches, restaurants, activities, nightlife, hotels.....you just can't go wrong. My recommendation is to stay somewhere on Palm Beach, the Marriott, the Hyatt, the Raddison....everything you want is in that area in walking distance. I've been to Bermuda on vacation and on business, it is a beautiful spot and the hotels are just stunning. It is a very luxurious island. You won't find any deals though as they do that on purpose so that they can attract only a certain type of visitor. The Fairmont Southhampton Princess is a gorgeous hotel... My advice is to stay clear of Costa Del Sol or anywhere in Spain unless your willing to do some research and find someplace away from the drunken, loud, obnoxious, mostly English tourists. Finding romantics spots are difficult there. Try Cinque Terre or the Amalfi Coast in Italy, it's LUSH! I just got back from Croatia yesterday and going in the off season there, (April or September) is just the best!! There were hardly any other tourists there really and everything was fantastic! It might go over your allocated flight hours, but I hightly recommend. Also, (and this might be too far to fly to as well) give a thought to Sharm el Sheik in the Sinai...You won't find a more beautiful out of the way spot to relax with just the two of you. Places like the Canary Islands or Greek Islands and such are over touristed by 18 year olds in teeny tiny skirts barfing alcho-pops outside your hotel all night...so beware! But if you do your research there are some quiet gems of spots but you gotta hunt for them.
