I'm getting married October 3rd, and I also love the fall, and didn't really want to miss the season, so we are leaving for our cruise on November 4th. I'm not worried about hurricanes or anything because if the weather looks bad the ship just stays away from that area and reroutes a little. With our flight it will cost us about $4000, the cruise for the two of us was just under $3000, but since we booked so early we will be paying for it little bits whenever we can so it won't be such a big lump sum at the end. We get a $75 credit for drinks, and we probably will spemd more with shore excursions and shopping. Ours is a 10 day with a balcony, and you can get 7 days with an interior or with just a window cabin for a lot less, making it really affordable. I'm of course biased, but I think cruising is a great option and can be very affordable if you are willing to compromise. I have seen ones on the carnival site for less than $1000 per person with the flight included. And it is nice that your food is included too. Good luck!

We thought of doing an all-inclusive, but we were so nervous about hurricanes and such so we decided to go to the States... Lake Tahoe. I'm really excited. We are going to spend a week at a time-share resort. The location is perfect for us. We can relax in nice weather and take day trips into National Parks for some hiking. The best of both worlds.

We're getting married in Toronto, but currently live in Vancouver, so we'll fly home, get the car and road trip it into California - the Oregon coast is supposed to be a spectacular drive and then we can take it easy and make each day up as it comes - nooooooooo planning :D

I love the fall - that's why we're getting married on Oct. 11th, so I can't imagine going someplace hot during that season. We're going to Banff for a week and I'm so excited. We'll leave the tropical destinations for the middle of January :-)

Hello ladies,

I got married Oct 13/07 and I too had a hard time planning. I should mention going to California it's a vreay beautiful place if you like all the vineyards and such. Greece is a good place too at that time as well as Panama but I'm not sure when it opens. It's only open certain times of the year.

Another sound silly and stupid but DH and I went to Diney in Florida and had the most amazing time EVER!!!!!! Infact we are trying to go back we had such a great time. We had no rian or just a shower I believe once.

We got married Oct 7/06 and left 3 days later for Hawaii. It was fantastic! If you could get a good flight, and wanted a comfortable room but nothing over the top you could do it for 3500. When we had rain it was for an hour or so and usually wasn't raining 10 minutes up the road and you don't have to worry about hurricanes or anything like that.

However, we were there for the biggest earthquake they'd had in 20 years. lol. but what are the chances of that happening twice! lol.

we got married on Sept 29/07 and left for Europe (Rome, Munich, Holland, Paris and London) on Oct 6th. The weather was awesome!!! I think we had 2 days where there was SOME rain in the 3 week period.

On my calendar right now - it has a picture of Venice and it says the best time to travel to Italy is April to June and September to october. :) Italy was AMAZING and you get get some great prices on flights over.

We are getting married at the end of October and are going on a Mediterranian Cruise.

But, some of our other ideas included the Grand Canyon and other places in Arizona, Texas, etc. We were also thinking of doing a land tour of Europe.

I think hurricane season ends in October, so you might be fairly safe if you chance a trip to Mexico or Dominican, etc. We were in Antigua a couple of years ago in February and that place was great!!!

We got married October 13th last year, and left for our honeymmon on the 14th. We spent a week in the Dominican in Punta Canta, and we loved it. The weather was fantastic, and it was the off seasons so there wasn't that mnay people around-never had to wait for drinks!

Plus, because it was hurricane season, we got it for dirt cheap-1200 all inclusive for 1 week, with free trips

We got married October 6th last year. We ended up going on a 7 day cruise of the Caribbean (stops in San Juan, St Thomas -- absolutely amazing island, and Tortola). The cruise left from New York City so we flew to NYC the day after the wedding and spend 3 days there before leaving on the cruise. A couple of the days at sea were a bit rough, but the weather was fantastic at all of the ports... picture 30+ degrees, sunny (picture perfect blue skies and clear water)... it was great.

We're going on a Tahitian cruise for 10 days and then 2 1/2 weeks of Hawaiian island hopping!!!

So far only the cruise has been booked, we're still working out the Hawaii details

We were married last fall and did 5 days in Montreal as a mini-honeymoon. It was a nice break, great food, lots of great wine, warm weather....perfect.

We're going to Asia in the next 12 months as our first anniversary/'real' honeymoon.

We are going to Cuba October 11th. We are doing four days in havana and 10 days in varadero. Everything cost us 4800 (including tax and insurance), so maybe a week or 10 days would be cheaper. We booked through ITravel 2000 and it was great! Check it out!

A cruise sounds wonderful! I'm sure you'll have a blast. Our honeymoon will be end of Oct/early Nov. We're planning on going to Puerto Vallarta. We chose it for it's location and weather for that time of year, it's out of the hurricane area (it's on the west coast of Mexico) and the weather is still really warm and sunny.

We originally wanted to go to the Mayan Riviera area instead, but the weather is just a tad too "iffy" for me that time of year.

We're probably going to go to the Dreams resort in Puerto Vallarta. Anyone been there or heard anything?

We finally decided on our honeymoon :-) I am soooo relieved.

We'll be going on a 7 night Southern Caribbean cruise October 15th :-) Woohoo. I believe it stops at Barbados, Aruba, Curcaco etc. so they are all out of the hurricane belt = lack of hurricanes which helps us hehe.

Hmmm, the Dominican sounds soooo tempting! hehe, I hear it's beautiful there.

Has anyone heard anything about Puerto vallarta, Mexico? After reading sooo many reviews etc. from tripadvisor about people travelling in October and having a great time it makes me just want to book in the dominican or cuba and just take the chance! But at the same time this is going to be our very first time going on a tropical vacation together eeeeps! So many things to think about hehe.

we are in the same situation. we are getting married sept23 and afraid that we will be hitting rainy/hurricane season. i hear that dominican is pretty safe and doesnt get hit too much by hurricanes. FH had mentioned europe but that can get very expensive too.

I never realized planning a honeymoon in october would be soooo difficult! We dont know where to book, and cruising is out of the picture as the more we researched it the more "expensive" it got from hidden fees and drinks etc. So we'll save that for another year.

I am wondering what places are "safe" to go to and places that wont rain all the time. Los Cabos sounds awesome but I hear you cant swim in the water etc. and the beaches are rocky.

Our budget is 3,500.00 MAX. We'd prefer to of course spend less hehe, but that is our budget and we want to stick to it :D We also want to go around the 12th/14th of October ... people have asked if we would be willing to wait until December but we dont want to wait, cause if we do we'll never get away as we are also buying a house around February and with our jobs it just wont happen any other time :blink:
